After completing their exciting game drive the group had a great time playing in the clear, cool water of the river that flows past the lodge. They were then treated to a birthday lunch for Joshua Fairhead at the lodge. All in all it was a great day out littered with once in a lifetime experiences. A number of very interesting research pro- jects were displayed with many of the learners opting to research topics related to the natural environment. Fran- cois Dumon for example looked at developing a solar water purification system and Cameron Blair tried to de- termine whether there are any specific criteria determining the nesting sites of Red-headed Weavers on Raptor’s View.

An Outing To Remember

Our Grade 3 class had a fabulous outing to Ntoma in the Klaserie Private Game Reserve. Not only did they see elephant and buffalo, they also came across a pack of 10 wild dog on an impala kill. After completing their exciting game drive the group had a great time playing in the clear, cool water of the river that flows past the lodge. College presenting their research projects at the SCS

Science Fair. A number of very interesting research pro-

research topics related to the natural environment. Fran-

SCS Learners Shortlisted for “The Wild Kid”

It is very exciting to report that three of the six young-sters who have been shortlisted for the role of presenter of The Wild Kid TV series are Southern Cross learners and another one of them is a former Southern Cross learner. Current SCS learners, Kieran McDonald (Grade 5), Kgoao Mametja (Grade 7) and Daniella Cowden (Grade 8) and former learner Graham Wiggill (Grade 8) will be holding thumbs to make it through to the next round. All of these learners are likely to play some sort of role in the programme as it develops into the future. If you would like to find out more go to The Wild Kid on facebook. You will see that Daniella and Kieran are already regular contributors to the page. We wish them every success going forward.
