Kindergarten 2019
A reminder Kindergarten enrolments for 2019 are now
being taken. Early enrolments and advice would be
appreciated in light of allocation of resources for the
new school year. Individual tours of the school and
information sessions are available for all.
The first of our parent information sessions will be held
Tuesday October 23 in the Kindergarten rooms
commencing at 6:30pm.
Please phone the school on 6566 6208 for any
information or enquiries regarding your child’s
enrolment.
Selective High School Information
All parents of Year 5 students are advised that they are
eligible to apply for placement of their child in a
government selective high school for 2020. Selective
high schools cater for highly achieving, academically
gifted and talented students. (The majority of schools
are located in Sydney). The closest schools to SWR are
in Tamworth, Armidale and Newcastle. If you would
like to know more please contact the front office.

NRL
Thanks to Garry and his team from the NRL for co-
ordinating the K-2 footy program. These skill sessions
will run each Monday for the next 5 weeks for our K-2
sport. It was an enjoyable time for all students at our
first session held yesterday.
Academic Success
Congratulations to Elizabeth on her high academic
achievement in the recent UNSW Maths test. These
Australia wide assessments are very comprehensive with
our students continuing to gain pleasing results.

Don’t forget our upcoming P&C fundraisers for this term.
Friday November 2 is our golf day while Saturday
December 1 will be our trivia night. Details of both
events are outlined later in this bulletin.
Debating
Our debating team travelled to Frederickton P.S
yesterday to compete in the Macleay Public Schools
debating competition. The team did very well in a close
competition coming runners up. Congratulations you
should be proud of yourselves.

Harold's Diary Stage 2 (Yr 3) - Friendship, resilience, expressing emotions, coping
strategies, healthy food choices, active lifestyles.
bCyberwise Stage 2 (Yrs 3&4) – Explores cybersafety through animation, vox pops of
NEW! children, relevant scenarios, discussion and problem solving.
Mind Your Stage 2 (Yr 4) - Safe and unsafe situations, medicines and consequence of
Medicine misuse, peer influence and friendship, positive communication.
On the Case Stage 3 (Yr 5) - Short and long term effects of smoking, effects of passive
New! smoking, laws, peer influence, and refusal skills.
Think Twice Stage 3 (Yr 6) - Consequences of alcohol use and misuse, stay safe
situations and refusal skills, laws controlling purchase and use.
It's Your Call Stage 3 (Yr 5 & 6) - Definition of legal drugs, decision making, emotions,
IMPROVED peer pressure, risk taking, problem solving, safe and appropriate use of
communication technology.
The programs address many of the components and objectives within the NSW PDHPE curriculum.
Teachers of composite classes will choose the program which best suits the needs of their children.

Kempsey Macleay Physical Culture Club
For the past two weekends, Kempsey Macleay Physie
club has been very busy. On Sunday October 14, our
club comps were held at Melville High School.

Kempsey Macleay Physical Culture continued
This past weekend we attended the Zone Competition at
Coffs Harbour. Seven other clubs from the Northern Zone
participated. The team results are:
7’s and 8’s team came 4th; 9’s and 10’s team also 4

Elementary Ladies came 1st; Advanced Ladies 4
th
Individual champion girl and lady results are: In the 11
years, Lily Farrell made the semi-final. Elementary
Ladies: the whole team made the semi and Amy Riach

STATE FINALISTS: These girls will attend the State
Finals at Hurstville on Saturday, 10th November. In the 5
years Ivy Hudson and Ruby Rushworth were chosen. 7
years Sienna Allen and Olivia Wright, 8 years Isla
Rushworth, 9 years Hollie Riach, 11years Stella Thorman,
14 years Jai Pierce.
The weekend was most enjoyable, with very pleasing
results. Thank you to all our members for participating so
well and thank you to the families who supported the girls
and ladies.
The only classes now will be training for the State
Finalists on Mondays and Wednesdays at the School of
Arts hall. 5’s: 3.30 to 4.15, 7/8’s: 4.15 to 5.00, 9’s/11’s:
5.00 to 5.45; 14’s 5.45 to 6.30. Please try to come to all
these training classes.
OUR BREAK UP PARTY will be held NEXT Tuesday
October 30 at the Kempsey Uniting Church hall in Wide
Street, starting at 4.00pm. Please wear party clothes, a big
smile, a great sense of fun and a plate of food to share.
Drinks will be provided.
