who attended SJSS and having given the ultimate sacrifice placed in our
ANZAC Garden. Please come and have a look.

Senior News
Welcome Back!
This term we are looking at Report/Information writing. The students will be writing a report on the
Culture and Identity of Japan. Students at SJSS learn Japanese so this will improve the 5/6 children’s
knowledge of Japan and give the year 4 students a head start to 2020.
In Health we are looking at our own Culture and Heritage so the report writing will be taught in English for
students to complete.

We are entered in 6 choir entries this year and Azariah Horton is entered in the Solo Flute. The choir
dates are Thursday 30th May – Monday 3rd June.

Junior News
The junior room is a hive of activity already! This term, for English, we are learning about
report writing, focussing this week on what is a fact and what is an opinion.
For Science this term, we will be looking at different materials. What their qualities are and
how they can be used and manipulated.
In HASS we will explore the inquiry question: How and why are places similar and different?
We have a very busy term (as usual) and we are very sad that Mrs Dodson is away on leave,
but we are very excited to have Mrs Wood in our class. We also have a Prac student working
in our class, Miss Grant, so please make sure you pop in and say hi!
Regards,
Mrs Butler, Mrs Rutter and Mrs Wood
P&C NEWS
School Banking
School Banking has been changed to TUESDAYS. A flyer was sent home on the 14th February on how to
open an account. Participating in the School Banking program is a great way for children to learn to
understand the value of money and develop their saving skills. There are some exciting new banking rewards
for the children this year. The process for banking has changed this year. Please ask your child to hand their
banking in to the tuckshop on Tuesday mornings. I will collect the banking from the tuckshop, process the
banking and return the deposit books to the children. Any queries, please call me on 0429 326 443.
