South Africa knows no mathematical orgasm

21 July 2014 | Johannesburg | MGLI

NOW is the time for action. Enough ballads of criticism of the ANC government’s failure to upgrade

the education system have been sung from all corners of the country to arouse anxiety and

frustration in the populace. I call this the anti-climax of the political freedom earned by stalwarts like

Nelson Mandela in 1994; please take note that I said political freedom and not independence (this is

in line with some persistent realities). Mathematics and science are the two subjects that have

proved to be the nation’s Achilles heels.

The opposition blames the ruling party; the ruling party blames the remnants of the apartheid era,

teachers blame parents who in turn blame teachers. Learners take the most favourable side at any

particular moment to justify their immorally below par performance relative to their international

peers. With every sector of society fingering the other, how is the country going to attain

mathematical pleasure? South Africa finds itself in the same position as a woman who has never had

an orgasm thus has no clue on how to attain it, recognise if she is on enroute to one thus the country

is dependent on foreign advice and reports to give an indication if we are on the right track to

reaching that elusive climax. Let not South Africa be like the sister in church who is seeing miracles

and healing taking place around her and she is desperately trying to get God’s attention so that she

can experience His healing power. That is a sad state to be in, to be denied such higher ideals that

are life-changing and gratifying.

South Africa ought to realise that she is responsible for her own orgasm. The blame and defend

game will not work and the problem is that we as the inhabitants of this glorious land will never be

illuminated; all we will know is mathematical copulation that leads to emptiness and self-loathe.

Copying and pasting best practices will not work because what made the other countries reach

mathematical orgasm might not necessarily apply here even if the contexts seem to parallel each

other thus it is imperative for all players to come together and come up with an authentically South

African solution to mathematical ecstasy, the lack thereof. Let us accept the fact that we suck in the

mathematical bed and even if our ego is bruised, it is a first step to redemption.

Like a frustrated woman who knows no orgasm but has heard from peers how liberating it is, South

Africa is a frustrated country thus the fingering mentioned earlier on. Mzansi has to work really hard

to experience this for herself. In as much as maths and science are sciences, the road to

achievement in these disciplines is fuzzy and very complex and linear one size fits all prescriptive

approaches will not work. A complex problem is multi-dimensional and any proposition that seeks to

come up with an optimal solution ought to take this into account. Gone are the days when that one

traditional position worked or was purported to work. Variety is the spice of life; let us try that

position that seems ridiculous maybe that is where our victory lies. As one who is need of orgasmic

emancipation, South Africa ought to be open-minded and imaginative so as to allow the flow of

enriching juices to enable the smooth penetration of ideas into the very womb of society with

minimal friction. This cooperation is mutually beneficial to her, South Africa, and those who wish to

partake any servings of business inside her. Currently South Africa is a not the best mating partner

when it comes to STEMI (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and innovation) related

industries as there is not enough arousal from within and potential suitors end up outsourcing this

critical ingredient to completeness. The obvious results are anarchy, frustration, self-loathing, low

self-esteem and eventually the demise of the elegant body of the gorgeous, vivacious and curvy

South Africa. If she does not take care of her mathematical health, I for one can predict an

accelerated demise into menopause rendering the country irrelevant in the information age and

subsequent ages to come. If mathematical pleasure is not addressed anytime soon, her sell by date

will approach us faster than the Gautrain.

To fully enjoy the joys of orgasm one ought to let go of prejudices and denials which are self-serving

as they will only be a sure way of denying one the pleasures associated with letting go. It is high time

every South African takes responsibility of the country’s orgasm. Each individual is a blood vessel in

the body of South Africa and has a pivotal role in ensuring that maximum pleasure is attained. A lax

attitude from one vein can affect the whole metabolism of the body which results in denial of that

fundamental right of coming, coming home where we belong!

As a South African, ask yourself what you have done for your country to ensure that we all

experience this ecstasy we so yearn for. What part can you play to make sure we transcend above

the seventh and ninth heaven into that place of intense pleasure like we never imagined before?

Imagine the toxins in our body as a nation that we will be able to get rid of as a result of this

pleasure which can only come if we as the blood vessels and muscles constrict and dilate at a

coordinated pace such that the mathematical intercourse has rhythm that everyone can dance to.

This does not leave out the so-called non-essential organs; this requires body, mind and soul to be

fully immersed in this journey which at first might be painful but the fruits worthwhile in every

respect.

I have previously written about ISR (Individual Social Responsibility) as a pre-requisite to success in

maths education in South Africa whereby every individual, educated or not, takes it upon themselves

to educate and/or facilitate the maths education of a child within and without their sphere of

influence. This is the real Ubuntu not the one used to score political victory but is devoid of action. It

is your duty to stand up today and be counted as a hero of mathematics. Don’t you want to be

remembered as being part of the generation that made South Africa come? The kind of coming that

we felt when the Springboks lifted the World Cup on home soil, the kind of coming we have been

consistently denied by Bafana Bafana.

It is my sincere hope that each one of us will take this message seriously and work hard to pump

blood to the vital organs so as to guarantee the nation’s mathematical orgasm which will surely

exponentially increase our happiness index.

If you have no mathematical skill to offer then be the white blood cell that runs around with the vital

oxygen in the blood vessels to ensure we reach that point we desire. Spread the message that we

can come, believe it and we will surely come. Coming is our birthright, let us not be denied this

inalienable right by delusional office bearers and their critics, let us stand tall and determine our

own destiny.

DISCLAIMER: The sentiments in this article do not reflect my state of mind and pertinent needs at

the time of writing. I had a difficult time trying to imagine how it feels to be denied this right and

once I understood the plight of those under this curse, I had a Eureka moment thus the prevailing

theme.
