Kaylan Louise Hudiburg and Dustin Michael Freeman were married in an evening ceremony on June 14, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City. Rev. Dr. Carl Bosteels presided over the nuptials.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Paul Hudiburg of Edmond, Oklahoma and the granddaughter of Mr. Paul Hudiburg, Ms. Jean Hudiburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Dana Batey. She is a graduate of Edmond North High School and the University of Oklahoma. The groom is the son of Mrs. Toni Elaine Freeman of Edmond and the late Mr. Michael Lee Freeman. He is the grandson of the late Mr. Thad Freeman, the late Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Horton, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Straughan. Dustin is also a graduate of Edmond North High School and the University of Oklahoma.

Escorted by her father down the aisle, the bride wore an elegant gown of ivory Chantilly lace designed by Angel Sanchez for Stanley Korshak. The lace, princess-line silhouette was fashioned with a fitted bodice. Sheer tulle petals fluttered about the skirt and twinkled with Swarovski crystals. To complete her ensemble, she wore a filigree pearl and crystal comb in her hair and a veil trimmed with a wide border of Alencon lace, which framed her face. The bride carried a bouquet of cream roses, white cymbidiums and cream peonies. The church was decorated with beautiful coral and white charm peonies along with green cymbidium orchids.

Of the bridesmaids, Sarah Jean Hudiburg, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Amanda Coy, Lindsey Freeman, Madison Hensley, Margaret Johnson, Jordan Kidd, Emily Lloyd and Erin Smith served as bridesmaids. The attendants wore candy apple green, dupioni silk, knee-length dresses with wrap ties by Watters and Watters and carried bouquets of coral roses and green cymbidiums. The groom’s party included best man, Derek Freeman, brother of the groom, and groomsmen Paul Brunner, Jayce Hudiburg, Cooper Johnson, Kevin Lytle, Derrick Novakowski, Trey Olson and Sherif Shalaby. G.R. Underwood, Mark Folger and Teddy Smith served as ushers. Nephews of the groom, Bentley Freeman and Palmer Freeman, were the ring bearers. Hailey Jayne Johnson was the flower girl and wore an adorable dupioni silk dress with a candy apple green, bubble bustle skirt and satin ribbon at the waist and wore a wreath of fresh green cymbidiums on her head.

After the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted the reception at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. The wedding guests arrived at the country club to

waiters dressed in tuxedos and white gloves serving the bride’s favorite cocktail, the “Yellow Number Five” from Café Nova. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Great Hall of the country club while waiting on the arrival of the bride and groom. Once they arrived, guests along with a quartet of trumpets, greeted them. Guests were escorted to the main area where they found hundreds of flowers hanging over the white dance floor and tables adorned with gorgeous centerpieces of different heights throughout the room. Flowers that were hung over the dance floor included pincushion protea, green tea roses, cymbidium orchids, yellow cymbidiums and “big fun” roses. Five large square tables on the outskirts of the main room had centerpieces of large, custom-made iron trees with hanging candles. Weaved throughout the trees were green hanging amaranthus, green hydrangeas, white and orange ranunculus, green dendrobium orchids, bells of Ireland and coral peonies. The other centerpieces in the main room were of shorter heights and used the same color palette as the trees. Another gorgeous element of the reception was the chandeliers in the Great Hall, which were heavily wrapped in green hanging amaranthus to add to the whimsical theme of the night.

The bride’s cake was six-tiered and had alternating layers of butter cream and strawberry filling. The groom’s cakes were three-tiered and were topped with chocolate covered strawberries along with chocolate truffles. Inside Out of Dallas, Texas, provided the entertainment. They sang hits from Michael Jackson to Justin Timberlake, surprising guests with their similarity to the real artists’ sound. Guests of the party danced until 11:30 and were surprised with waiters bringing out silver platters of Taco Bell soft tacos and bean burritos for “late night” snacking. The bride and groom danced until the very end of the night and exited the reception to their friends and family tossing rose petals. They left the reception in a classic black Buick Skylark provided by the bride’s father and were taken to their honeymoon suite at the Waterford Marriott.

Five days after the wedding, the newly married couple flew to Hawaii to spend their relaxing 12-day honeymoon in Lanai’i and Maui. The couple currently lives in Oklahoma City where Dustin works for Devon Energy, and Kaylan is in graduate school at the University of Oklahoma.

It was at a freshman college mixer that Craig first spotted Tara. At that moment, he knew he had to meet the girl with such an eager smile and bright eyes. He introduced himself that evening, and the only things Tara remembers about their conversation were Craig’s big blue eyes and his firm handshake. “He was remarkably amiable and confident,” she reminisces. “And this intrigued me to get to know him better.” They began dating in November of their freshman year at Harding University.

By the end of their junior year, they knew they desired to be together forever. That summer, as they studied abroad with the university’s international studies program, Craig proposed to Tara in Florence, Italy. On Tara’s 22nd birthday, Craig took her to the Piazza de Michael Angelo, a plaza that overlooks the beautiful city. As the sun was setting, Craig surprised her with a bouquet of sunflowers, which she assumed was for her birthday. Upon further examination, she noticed a lock that was nestled among the flowers and immediately knew her life was about to change forever. In keeping with the romantic Italian tradition, the couple walked to the famous Ponte Vecchio Bridge after the proposal, fastened their lock to the iron rail and threw the key into the Arno River. This lover’s ritual symbolizes the couple’s commitment of being “locked” together forever.

With hundreds of close family and friends as witnesses, Tara and Craig were married on June 6, 2008, in the exquisite garden of The Dominion House in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Tara was radiant in her fitted gown of a ruched, raw silk bodice and lace skirt with elegant crystal embellishments. As her “something old,” she carried the lace handkerchief her grandparents had given her as a newborn. Her “something new” was a silver charm with her new monogram on one side and wedding date on the other, a gift from her mother, which was attached to the bridal bouquet. The stunning cathedral-length veil, which completed her look, was “something borrowed” from her sister-in-law. And her “something blue” was the garter her mother had worn on her parent’s wedding day.

Light pink and green hydrangeas inspired the colors of the lovely garden wedding. Hydrangeas, gardenias, stephanotis, open roses and hypericum berries were used to complement the setting. Large “T” and “C” floral wreaths hung on the grand iron gates welcoming guests into the garden.

After Craig kissed his bride, the guests cheered the new Mr. and Mrs. Steven Craig Quattlebaum by waving pink and white streamers as they happily walked down the cobblestone path to the song, “You’re My Best Friend” by Queen to begin their happily ever after.
