The words “pick up the pieces” could mean he is metaphorically picking up the pieces of a broken relationship, and when he says “build a Lego house” he means he will put it back together, but like Lego it will be fragile and easily broken. Finally when he says “ when things go wrong we can knock it down” he means that he is expecting to fail in trying to rebuild a relationship, but is willing to try again.

“ Its more than I can take” suggests that he misses someone so much, that he physically can’t take it anymore.

“Don’t hold me down” sounds like a warning, maybe because before she was too controlling over him and this time he wont let it happen.

He will “surrender up my heart” gives the impression that whoever he is fighting for doesn’t really want to give him up, as if she is fighting for him and he is surrendering to her.

He is confessing that he had been in this situation before, maybe implying that he never wanted it to happen again.

He is referring to all the bad that led up to a breakup, and that on reflection he loves her even more than before.

He is saying he wants to be committed to her, that he will take care of the person he loves.

In the first line he is saying that he depends on her, the lyrics “dark in a cold December, but I’ve got you to keep me warm” suggest that he can not live without her, just like someone could live without warmth in a cold December. “ if you’re broken I’ll med ya” mean that he really cares about her, and will help her when she is down.

The one thing on his mind, and that is trying to win back someone he has lost. “Its all for you” literally means that everything he is doing is for somebody else because he cares about them.
