TWO SIDEL HOT FILL COMBIS ADD VALUE TO MEXICAN JUICE COMPANY JUGOS DEL VALLE Sidel has supplied and installed two production lines featuring a Sidel hot-fill Combi, less than two years apart
Mexican producer partnered with Coca-Cola Established over 60 years ago, Jugos del Valle is Mexico’s leader in ready-to-drink juices and juice drinks. It is strategically partnered with Coca-Cola and offers over sixty brands. Domestically, it is the leader in teas and carbonated soft drinks, second in the sports drinks market and third in bottled water and energy drinks. When the Mexican beverage provider decided to invest in a new production line, Jugos del Valle methodically considered its precise requirements and carefully assessed its objectives.
Responding to changing habits in consumption "We felt it was important to invest in these lines," explains Alejandro Malagón, General Director of Jugos del Valle. "Consumer lifestyles and demands are rapidly evolving here in Mexico and we're constantly striving to satisfy them." "We analyzed all the proposals we received from various suppliers and, in the end, we decided that the Sidel offer was really the best fit for our needs," Sñr. Malagón continued. Two hot-fill Sidel Combis are now handling production of the company’s ‘Powerade’ and a ready-to-drink tea in various formats.

Blow molding, filling and capping in a single systemThe original decision to invest in the Sidel Combi was the first time that Jugos del Valle had opted for such an integrated system. The high-performance solution combines blow molding, filling and capping in a single integrated system and is suitable for all liquids packaged in PET. By eliminating conveying, empty bottle handling, accumulation and storage, these compact and ergonomic machines optimise the bottling line layout and improve overall production reliability. Reducing the number of machines in any line, they result in a smaller overall equipment footprint.
A solution offering increased efficiency, reliability and performanceAlong with optimized processes and high speeds, risk-free production was of the utmost importance to Jugos del Valle. The choice of filling technology was strongly influenced by the intrinsic properties of the beverages, which require special care to ensure total safety and product integrity. Of course, the transition from standalone lines to the new Sidel Combi systems required training to enable Jugos del Valle’s operators to achieve optimum production. However Sñr.Malagón insists that increased efficiency, reliability and performance make it all worthwhile. "A solution like this helps us reduce costs," he says. "We no longer have to deal with transportation costs for the bottle, because now it arrives without being transformed. This also allows us to make it slightly thinner, which helps reduce costs even more." To maintain optimal inventory levels, both lines are running all week long. Sidel was also able to help Jugos del Valle master the complexities typically associated with hot-fill production, such as the collapsing of packages and to define the most-adapted bottle process possible. "Sidel has become our business partner, bringing us experience, knowledge and technical expertise, therefore making the whole process a lot smoother," concluded Alejandro Malagón.
