Syllables that are used to represent notes on the scale.

Use hand signs for every note

Ranges from do to do

Fixed-Do System

Do will always be the note C on the scale

Moveable-Do

Do will always be the first note of the Major Scale

Pronunciation of Do

Do is the first syllable for the scale

Pronounced like “Doe” or “Dough”

A fist that is held out straight

Held at eye level

Sounds like how a person would say “Ray” as in a ray of sunlight

Point the open part of your “C” towards the ground

• Loosen grip in fist, but keep finger pointed up
