STATISTICALPROCESSCONTROL

STAND ALONESPC SOFTWAREDataLyzer® Spectrum is a state-of-the art, real-time software packageautomating the data collection, charting and analytical functions ofStatistical Process Control.

The unique structure of this systemproduces sophisticated analysiswithout lengthy computer/userinteraction. Most facilities requireonly three steps.

DataLyzer® Spectrum’s openarchitecture allows data entry invarious ways including keyboard, bar code, direct connection to gageinterfaces, along with other ODBC-compatible database tables andASCII files.

Real-time control chart displays areclear and concise, supplying theuser with all necessary informationin an easy-to-understand format.

Visual aids during data entryinclude: a scroll bar to viewpreviously entered points; mousecontrol for point-and-shoot dataediting; multiple screen buttonsand color-coded subgroup flags forruns, trends, stratification andprocess notes. Users can attach awide variety of graphic and videofiles as instructional visual aids fordata entry on the plant floor.

A wide variety of reports providesmanagement, auditors and qualityengineers with a complete set ofinformational tools for studyingand refining manufacturingprocesses.

Database support for MS Access®is standard. SQL Server® andOracle® versions are also available.

ODBC (Open DatabaseConnectivity) makes datauniversally available to otherapplications.

The DataLyzer® Spectrum singleuser package is upgradeable toenterprise-wide data collectionthrough the simple installation ofHub, Satellite and ExecutiveMonitor software modules.

GENERAL FEATURES

Fill out one simple form to define SPC variables. Duplicate individual variables orentire parts to hasten system setup.

Enter data ‘by characteristic’ to instantly see corresponding points plot on the graphs(real-time) without switching to other program modes.

Real-time data collection can be sequenced to collect one characteristic after anotherwith a user-defined delay between charts, or collect all characteristics at once using ‘bypart’ sequencing. Variable and attribute charts can be sequenced together during datacollection.

Each point is evaluated and flagged in color, corresponding to one of 20 differentstatistical alarm conditions. User-selectable process shift and stratification analysis, including Western Electric run and trend rules, allow immediate detection of processshifts and nonrandom conditions within control limits.

Store unlimited numbers of traceability parameters with the subgrouped data to filterspecific conditions during analysis. This feature permits lot-to-lot comparisons, reporting by time period and filtering multilevel independent variable combinations.

The “Measuring Instructions” button allows users to view attached work instruction orprocedural documents, images, drawings, videos or spreadsheets. This feature promotesoperator consistency and clarifies the data collection process.

Multilingual operation provides international compatibility. Oneclick converts all menus and prompts to: English, Spanish, French,Dutch, German, Portuguese or Russian. Users can add otherlanguages.

Create global and chart-specific lists of 60-character notesdescribing standard causes and corrective actions. Pareto these notesas they accumulate in the file. In addition, free-form notescontaining up to 3,000 characters may be entered for eachsubgroup point. Corresponding points on the control charts areflagged with “C” for cause, “A” for action or “N” for free formnotes.

Use robust math functions to preprocess data as it is plotted in realtime. Derive entire subgroups automatically from data collectedelsewhere in the collection sequence.

Scroll through points on the displayed graphs. Click any subgrouppoint to view and edit raw data and traceability information.

Use the “Exclude” screen button for instant point-and-clicksubgroup exclusion from upper and lower control limit calculationsto eliminate the effects of isolated special causes of variation.

Use the “Search” facility to display all subgroups within date andtime ranges along with parameter commonalities like lot#, shift, operator, etc. Stack virtually unlimited optional parametercombinations to filter data.

E-mail alerts transmit messages instantly as control charts go out ofcontrol. Notify production supervisors and/or quality engineers assoon as problems appear.

Minimum sampling restrictions suppress control limit andcapability index calculations until user-specified statisticalsignificance is attained.

Connect to virtually all RS-232 or USB compatible gages andinterfaces.

Import data from external sources. (Excel, ASCII files, Databasetables, RS-232 and DMP files)

Use the “Control Limits” button to modify, freeze or set unlimitedsets of stepped control limits to track recurring process shifts.During real-time data entry, use the “First Piece” button to entercontrol limit breaks.

Multiple levels of security and password protection are availableupon request.

Searchable help is available throughout the package.

A broad range of additional user-selectable and user-definablesystem features tailor DataLyzer® Spectrum operation to yourindividual needs.

COMPANYHISTORYStephen Computer Services wasorganized in the late 1970’s todevelop quality software forindustry. Since that time we haveestablished a solid reputation forinnovation and customerresponsiveness. SCS hascontributed many firsts to itsindustry.

Stephen Computer Services wasone of the first companies toprovide a commercial SPC softwarepackage for industry in the early1980’s. Soon after, SCS developedthe first commercial GageRepeatability and Reproducibilitysoftware package. StephenComputer Services was the first tointroduce real-time data entry to itsSPC packages and the first tointroduce enterprise-wide solutionsvia local area networks as early as1987. More recently, SCS was thefirst to offer multilingual SPCsoftware products on multipledatabase platforms.

OUR MISSIONStephen Computer Services, Inc. isin business to develop software forquality assurance (analysis andrecord keeping).

Our progress depends onsuccessfully pursuing the followingprinciples:

• Listen and respond to customerswith strong, maintenance-freeproducts and features.

• Offer maximum value in personalservice with each customercontact, whether it be sales, support, documentation orcustomer training.

• Be alert for opportunities toimprove.

• Support customers for thelong run.

REPORTS

Conveniently preview reports on the screen before printing.

Most common variable and attribute control charts and graphical analyses aresupported including: X & R, X Moving R, X & S, P, NP, C, U, DPMO, histogram,pareto and user-defined reports (33 reports in all).

Multiple “consolidated” summary reports are available for variable or attributecharacteristics.

Easy-to-read reports contain numerous, user-selectable fields and other featurestailoring information to suit you and your auditors.

User-defined titles personalize the masthead of your company’s quality reports.

Analyze specific subsets of data using the “Search” screen button and parameter filters.

8.5" x 11" or A4 report formats contain header, graphs and data for convenient analysis, faxing and filing.

Print most reports in HTML format for posting on the web or intranet, ore-mailing to customers.

Reports include all industry standard statistics like Cpk, Ppk and Ppm.

Fully user-defined reports can be created in two parts: a graphical header and astatistical table containing statistics the user has selected. The report is defined oncebut can be used to repeatedly analyze data from various processes.

Print sets of reports by grouping them together into batches. Recurring sets ofcustomer or management reports can be produced automatically by using the batchreport facility. Quickly and easily activate the batch and let it process the reportsrequired.

Create your own reports through ODBC access to the DataLyzer® Spectrum database.

DPMO (defects per million opportunities) reports are a variation of attribute controlcharts. The DPMO index plots graphically to provide a standardized metric forexpressing component failure in terms of total opportunities for failure. It is often usedfor electronics assemblies, but applies to a wide variety of attribute data collectionsituations.

PARETO CHART CONTROL SUMMARY

STAND ALONE

The DataLyzer® Spectrum SPC system offers a simple, inexpensiveset of modules to suit almost any manufacturing or serviceorganization. Each module is designed to equip a different area ofthe organization, according to its specific data entry, analytical andreporting requirements. The goal is to provide management, labor, administration and engineering with the specific data entry, analytical and reporting tools needed at those areas. All modulesactively interact, using the common database as a reference point.

DataLyzer® Spectrum’s foundation module is the Stand Alonepackage. It is used autonomously to create charts, enter data andprint more than 33 different reports formanagement, engineers, auditors orcustomers. In some cases, multiple StandAlone packages are employed byengineering staff to produce various off-line analyses from one shared qualitydatabase.

DataLyzer® Stand Alone can be scaledup to offer enterprise-wide monitoringand administration by adding anadministrative Hub module. Thisaccessory adds two powerful resources tothe DataLyzer® Spectrum system: theability to assign charts to the plant floorfor data collection and a system-widemonitoring facility for statistical status, chart review and editing.

The Hub maintains a color-coded statusscreen giving administrators an overviewof all processes being monitored. Eachblock on the Hub screen represents aprocess and rows of blocks representSatellites. Twenty different processstatuses offer reference information at aglance, from statistical condition towhether checks were done on time. Up to 1,600 processes can beviewed at a glance and virtually unlimited numbers of processes canbe seen by scrolling. The Hub user can highlight and select anyblock on the status screen to instantly display the correspondingcontrol chart or histogram showing the latest data from the shop

floor or lab. The Hub can edit this data, display process notes orprint reports as necessary.

Satellites are used by production operators and lab personnel whoseresponsibilities include data collection and process adjustment.Satellites can be implemented wherever data will be entered.Multiple, inexpensive Satellite packages are used for remote, real-time data entry and basic analysis. Data entry is accomplished usinggraphical control charts like X & R and P charts or Histogram.Tabular (by-part) formats are also supported. Operators areencouraged to enter notes for problem processes. Each Satellite

maintains a summary of its characteristics, organized by sequence. This local statusscreen provides an overview of the stationin terms of 20 statistical and processcontrol conditions. Satellite users enterdata instantly by accessing any displayedcollection sequence. Charts are created atthe Hub and assigned to the Satelliteslocally, so minimal system access isavailable. Reporting is available and directinterfacing is included for most RS-232gaging systems. “Local backup” can beused in SQL Server® and Oracle®systems to continue using local Satellitesduring network or database failure.

The Executive Monitor operates like aread-only Hub. It displays the samesystem-wide status screen as the Hub andoffers control chart views, notes and datafrom the plant floor. However, theExecutive Monitor has no administrativecapabilities and cannot reassign charts forremote data collection. These tasks areperformed by the administrative Hub.The Executive Monitor is often used byupper management or supervisory

personnel who need system-wide status information and reportprinting capability without the responsibility of system-wide setupand administration. The Executive Monitor package is the sameprice as a Satellite, making them commercially interchangeable forlicensing.
