Summary
As a public health provider, researcher, and advocate I aim to bring a diverse and culturally sensitive perspective to studies regarding the impact of
policies and government programs on population health behavior and indicators, especially in high risk and minority communities. A Bachelor of
Nursing with a minor in public health and administration and Master of Public Health with a policy and management concentration has helped me
build comprehensive background knowledge and critical thinking skills regarding key issues in this field, including a focus on evaluation of primary
and preventive care programs. Especially relevant experiences involve: undergrad research fellow at a research medical institute in northeast
Brazil (IMIP), research associate position in healthcare surveillance in the Pernambuco State Health Department, graduate teaching and research
assistant at Georgia State University School of Public Health, public health intern at CDC, and project coordinator for the evaluation of a federally
funded home visiting program. Through these opportunities and comprehensive training, I have developed competency in data collection and
analysis, program evaluation, stakeholder coordination, and analysis of policy implications for research.
