LESSON STAGE TEACHER STUDENT TIME

Task, part A Tell the students that the assignment is to work in groups to write a blog post about their home country for a twin class.

All groups prepare their own blog posts. Together, the class chooses the most interesting post, which is then shared with the twin class.

In addition, the students describe the things they find interesting about their home country.

20 min

Task, part B 1. Once the students have found the information they need, ask them to write it on the blog.

2. Once the posts are ready, ask the students to propose their blog post with the class blog.

3. Once the posts have been published on the class blog, the groups assess each other’s posts.

4. The post with the highest number of likes is published for the twin class.

NETIQUETTE INFO

Netiquette

Netiquette refers to the rules of behaviour related to internet usage. In order to reduce on-line bullying, it is good to start netiquette training at an early age. Online misunderstandings arise easily: when people do not see each other, it is difficult to judge what is a joke and what is bullying. Therefore, it is important to express yourself clearly. If it is not certain that the other party will understand the joke, it is better to refrain from making the joke.

It is good to remind the students that bullying hurts, even online. Online bullying is just as prohibited as bullying in school. Online bullying includes name-calling, abuse, threatening or harassing someone, posting of pictures or videos of one another without permission, and discrimination, as well as disclosing the personal affairs of someone. In serious cases, the police are authorised to intervene in online bullying and the bullying can have serious consequences.

OSIO B

Miten luot hyvän salasanan?

1. Valitse neljä sanaa, jotka eivät liity millään tavoin toisiinsa tai sinuun. Sanoista ei saa muodostua selkeää lausetta. Esimerkiksi:

Oikein: kukko vaunu juosta patteriVäärin: kukko juoksi vaunussa patterilla

2. Kirjoita kaikki valitsemasi sanat yhteen. Muista muuttaa ääkköset:

kukkovaunujuostapatteri

3. Jo tässä vaiheessa salasanan vahvuus on hyvä. Jos haluat tehdä salasanasta vielä vahvem-man, muuta yksi kirjain isoksi ja lisää sanaan vielä numero:

kukkOvaunu22juostapatteri

Sharing information about others online

When online, people often share information or photos of people they know without asking their permission. Sharing other people’s information or any material about them, however, is not allowed unless you have asked for permission.

Pictures taken in private spaces, such as other people’s homes, may not be published without permission, even if there are no people in them. Pictures taken in public spaces can be published without permission, unless they invade the privacy of the people in them. Because it is difficult to know what might be considered an invasion of privacy, it is always safest to ask for permission before publishing photos of others. To publish a photo taken by someone else, you always need to have the creator’s permission.

Sharing other people’s personal information (address, telephone number) online is not allowed!
