Active Listening• Look at the person talking,

show interest by nodding and facial expressions.

• Encourage person – “Do you want to talk about it…?” • When there is a pause.. Show

that you are interested, Ask a question, ”Then what happened”

• Summarize what the person says, Make sure you heard them correctly as to what upset them, or excited them.

• DO NOT GO ON TO YOUR OWN PROBLEM and ignore theirs.
