oaring FOR ALL LIFE CAN BE S O n April 10, Life College at Westcott Lakes launched the LifeBio program with a two- hour introductory workshop. Beth Sanders, Founder and CEO of LifeBio, presented the program and joined members for an informal Q&A session as part of the Second Tuesdays festivities. In the coming months, Dean Don Alford and the Life College Committee of the PCA will be announcing future classes and plans to incorporate LifeBio as an ongoing program. On April 11, Ms. Sanders again presented the LifeBio workshop to a standing room only crowd of prospective members and guests. She once again discussed the seven messages to include in life stories, tips for writing, and questions that prime the pump of memories. Sanders said the main reason most people do not record their autobiographies is that they do not know where to start. "They need some structure and that's what the LifeBio program was designed to provide," she said. "I like to say we're the personal trainers of personal history. We keep people going." Sanders said reminiscing enhances people's social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual lives. "When people understand where they've come from and who shaped their lives, they begin to see the big picture and start to see themselves in a new way," she said. "While people are interested in capturing memories for their kids and grandkids, they're also interested in the here and now." During the member workshop on the 10th, Beth facilitated a short word association exercise where she asked members to deine community. According to the attendees, community is working together for the good of all, common sense of values and aspirations, the ability to understand differences, sincere caring, making an effort to get to know everyone, room for independence, participation in some activities, assuming responsibility for actions that beneit others and mutual respect for all. © Westcott Lakes ® , April, 2009 LifeBio Program Launched! With regard to the two-sided coin of Marketingand Sales, there are of courseseveral key strategies in placethis year for these two priorityareas. Event planning, advertising and public relationscontinue to be a part of ourmarketing strategies, especiallyworking with our local mediaand through our local civicorganizations and professionalnetworks. However, Westcott Lakes’sponsorship by Florida StateUniversity and our integrationwith the University is central toour unique identity and ouroperations, so it is this focusthat guides much of 2009’smarketing and public relationsefforts. We are proud to besponsored by FSU and are

honored to have so many in theUniversity community workingalongside us to “get the wordout” about all that WestcottLakes has to offer. Our current members, through word-of-mouthreferrals and sponsorship ofnew members continue to beinstrumental to this year’ssales strategies. And in a moreformal way, the Ambassadorsare continually growing as anextension of the sales team, having just completed astrategy of reaching out tocancelled priority depositorsfrom the early days of WestcottLakesIn these challengingeconomic times, we know thatqualiTied leads are harder tocome by than ever and thatattention to the quality ofpersonal relationships betweeninterested parties and ourmembers is even moreimportant than generatingmass quantities of leads. We are also Tinding thatthose who are interested areincreasing their interest whenthey “see and hear” what a LifeFulTilling Community is about. As a result, one of ourstrategies this year is arrangingtrips to Oak Hammock at theUniversity of Florida®, whichhave already proven to be quitesuccessful for both prospects

and members. Finally, Member Services isour Tinal priority area for theyear as we develop more waysto offer services to ourFounder’s Club. The Board willbe reviewing the strategies inthis priority area as you readthis article, so as thosestrategies develop intooperational plans, I lookforward to sharing them withyou. In the meanwhile, it is greatto see how our member-drivenculture continues to take root. Each of the Committees of thePCA is actively involved in theirrespective pursuits, whetherthey are developing socialprogramming, lifelong learningopportunities or a library. Themembers involved in theleadership of these areas are apleasure to work with, andtheir work provides a solidfoundation for the rest of thestaff and me to enhanceMember Services even whilewe are in this pre-constructionphase.Thank you to one and all foryour investment of time, talentand treasure in helping to bringthe vision of the Westcott LakesEagles to life!

Life Bio

Dear Westcott Lakes Members,It was such a privilege to be your speaker for Life College, and Ienjoyed Second Tuesdays with this amazing group. Thanks foryour openness to sharing your memories and experiences withme and with each other. It was a joy to hear how many thingspeople had in common. You also shared unique interests, storiesfrom growing up, and challenges that people have overcome. You can build from the momentum started at the Life Collegeclass and encourage both Members and potential members to getto know each other and to have the opportunity to create theirown autobiographies—using a variety of different options.Several people expressed interest in becoming part of the LifeBioTeam. The team will learn more about LifeBio’s options duringmonthly meetings and lead future classes. I will provide trainingand coaching by phone/web/video. In the near future, LifeCollege will offer a LifeBio 101 Class, which you may want toopen to non-members for a fee.Once again, my deepest appreciation to the Members and staff ofWestcott Lakes that made it possible for me to join you inTallahassee.
