Candidate No 1

Alan MakConservative Party

Hayling’s residents have given me a warm welcome since they and local voters selected me as your Conservative candidate at a public meeting last October. Since then I’ve worked full-time meeting local businesses, schools and community groups to understand local issues, from Hayling Community Centre and Hayling College to CycleHayling and Hayling British Legion.I’ll be a strong national voice for Hayling, and a hardworking local MP who brings energy and real-world experience to the job. Born and raised in Yorkshire above my parent’s high street shop, I became the first in my family to finish school and make it to university (reading law at Cambridge). I became a solicitor at a leading business law firm, before launching my own small business. I’ve served as President of Magic Breakfast, Britain’s biggest school breakfast club charity which feeds 12,000+ hungry children every morning. I founded the Royal British Legion’s young supporters’ network having been a Poppy seller for over 10 years. Now living in Havant, my priorities are: a strong economy, successful schools, and vibrant communities .

I want rising living standards and more all-year-round local jobs. To support local businesses, I’ve launched a Business Club led by Chris Snell of Tournerbury Woods and Hayling resident Gary Medlow who runs Langstone Technology Park. I’ve also backed the Hayling Job Club and launched a popular local young professionals’ careers network with Tim Pike of Northney Ice Cream. I’ll use my experience as a school governor and Cambridge University Advisory Board member to help local students succeed. Hayling deserves good infrastructure & public services too, and I’ll work hard to protect Hayling’s special character and community spirit. At the most important election in a generation, voting Conservative means a secure and prosperous future for you, Hayling and our country. Find out more: http://www.alanmak.org.uk/hayling-island

Imagine a better politics * A politics that looks to the longer term - developing effective strategies for the sustenance and betterment of our world, so that we can pass a decent legacy on to our children and subsequent generations. * A  politics  that  wants  to  share  resources,  wealth  and  the  products  of  our  successes more  equally, making  sure  that  those with  the ability to pay don't avoid their responsibility to do so. * A  politics  that  believes  that  children  and  young  people  should  be  nurtured  and  encouraged  to  develop  as  rounded  and  confident human beings, not forced into debt and left struggling to get decent jobs and housing. * A politics that puts public service values above those of the market in our NHS, schools and local councils. * A  politics  seeking  to develop  a  world  in which  everyone  has  the  opportunity  to find  happiness  and  will  be  helped  as  of  right,  not stigmatised, when things go wrong.

* A politics that thinks that power and influence in all aspects of government should be shared by everyone, not just the rich and well-connected. * A politics that will fight to conserve what we love about our countryside and the diversity of the natural world. * A  politics  that  will  fearlessly  demand  change,  when  and  where  change  is  needed.  A  politics  that  loves innovation and supports science and engineering for the good of all – not just commercial self-interest. * A politics that recognises the importance of security, but doesn't believe that having weapons to kill millions of innocent civilians makes us more secure or is morally right. * A  politics  that  hates  greed,  loves  working  together  and  stands  up  for  the  needy.  A  politics  for  the  common good. * This  is  our  politics.  We  are  the  Green  Party.  Help  us  make  May  7th  the  day  British  politics  changes  for  the better.

Candidate No 3Dr Graham Giles MBE

Labour Party

This is my 30th year engaged in social, economic and political development in England and Eastern Europe. Before the collapse of totalitarian regimes I supported prisoners of conscience behind the ‘iron curtain’. I was interrogated three times by the communist secret police and banned for life - until the 1989 revolution. Since then I led projects with the Foreign Office, World Bank and United Nations. We launched probation services and residential care for disabled young people.My charity created ‘Highways of Health’ installing decommissioned British X-ray suites into poor rural, TB and prison hospitals. I’m currently coordinating a scientific team to produce a breakthrough treatment for drug detox, relief of chronic pain, and recovery from traumatic stress. During February this initiative resulted in my invitation to breakfast with President Obama, and lunch with the Dalai Lama in Washington. During my spare time I like to sail, play chess, and walk coastal footpaths, listening to jazz and opera music.People I meet want specific plans for how we can change things, like reducing student loans and solving the cost-of-living crisis. They want to work or start a business and lift their family to a higher standard of living. My pledges to Havant and Hayling Island are:· to fiercely defend our NHS from privatisation (and join up local hospital and home-care services);

 · to target European funding for cycleways, to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, preserve flood defences, and boost green tourism;· to tackle causes of homelessness, debt and dependency;· to champion affordable geothermal power for families and businesses through European renewable energy grants (as Southampton did). I have a track-record of tipping the balance towards hope in health, education and justice. Now I'm asking for the trust of voters to represent and work in Parliament to energize our local economy and empower our neighbourhoods.

Candidate No 4Steve Sollitt

Liberal Democrats

I am Steve Sollitt and am a 45 year old Management Accountant, working in the NHS for the last 13 years. I am a local councillor and was first elected in 1994. I was also a candidate in last European elections. The experience I have gained from being a councillor will prove invaluable in the role of MP. I have always lived in Hampshire and am proud to call the county my home. The residents of Havant and Hayling Island deserve a strong voice to represent and stand up for them in Parliament full time. If elected my only job would be to represent you as your MP. The Liberal Democrats have a strong record of success as part of the Coalition Government and I believe that we have grown up and risen to the challenge and responsibilities of government. Since 2010, we have delivered in government by: · Giving an £825 tax cut to low and middle income earners, something that David Cameron said was not affordable in 2010· Securing the biggest ever cash rise in the State Pension and have brought in the “triple lock” to protect pensions· Giving schools extra money to spend on children from poorer backgrounds through Pupil Premium to ensure that they are not disadvantaged· Introduced free school meals for infant aged children And with a promise of more to come including: · Raising personal allowances still further· Legislating to make the “triple lock” permanent, guaranteeing a decent pension rise each year· Increasing NHS funding by £8 billion a year by 2020, the only party to give the NHS what it has asked for· Extending free meals to all primary aged children By voting for me you will elect a caring, listening and hardworking MP for our area

Should Britain be able to control its borders, write its own laws and govern itself? If you believe the answer is “YES”, as I do, then UKIP is the party for you.I  am  your  UKIP  parliamentary  candidate  and  I  am  fighting  to  uphold  the  principles  which  I  hold  dear:  honesty, integrity, common sense business practices, standing-up for the ordinary person, and promoting our right to govern ourselves.Havant has been my home and full-time place of work since 1979. This is my home, I care passionately about it and, if elected, I will fight tirelessly to promote the welfare and economy of Havant. I have extensive experience in industry, as a management accountant and professional engineer, and I will use my talents and experience to the full in working for you.For 2015/16 The Conservatives cut Hampshire County Council funding by £90 million and Havant Borough Council funding by £1 million which will result in even further reductions to front line services.By leaving the EU and cutting foreign aid each by £10 billion, leaves a cash saving equivalent to £30 million per constituency per year, which we could better spend locally.

My  personal  priorities  are:  immigration,  border  control,  self-determination,  the  NHS  and education.In  last  year’s Havant Euro elections UKIP won  the most  votes, with 38% of  all  votes  cast. With  your  help  we  can  do  the  same  in  the  General  Election  and  start  making  a  real difference to the way our country is governed. Please help me to promote Havant and win back control of our country by voting UKIP.If  you  would  like  to  know  more  about  UKIP  in  Havant,  please  see:  www.johnperry.org.uk and  www.ukiphavant.org.uk  where  you  may  view  and  download  our  election  flyers.  You may also follow me on twitter @john_perry_uk
