Ecopark facility
A mechanical-biological treatment facility thatintegrates different technologies to treat mixed MSW. But it can also receive waste segregated at source. In 2017, 570 MBT plants were operating in Europe with a treatment capacity of 55 million tons/year. Another 120 facilities are expected to be implemented by 2025, increasing capacity by 10 million tonnes per year.

Final remarks

Final remarks
Landfill deviation is urgent, specially biowaste; Large generators must be on board to support newfacilities; Private sector mindset is changing and recognisingwaste as a resource – new technologies are coming; Foodwaste prevention is needed and hand-to-handwith waste sector – the less the better to manage
-
