OPENING ADDRESS

Proverbs 14 v 12 - “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to

death”

We sometimes have the tendency to take from scripture what we like to and to discard

the bits we don’t like. We can easily form our own “religion” based on our perception

and interpretation of scripture. So many people in the world today call themselves

Christians yet compromise the Word of God and white wash the walls of sin. Many are

bound by man made laws which have no place in scripture. We cannot accept part of

the Bible and discard the rest.

We also need to read scripture in the context it was written. The only way we can

truly understand scripture is by fully relying on the Holy Spirit. We ask that the Holy

Spirit will guide us into all the truth and protect us from a Spirit of Deception.

Beware of the way that seems right but in the end leads to destruction.

Love Lynette

THANK YOU TO ALL STAFF

proficient manner.

We furthermore wish to acknowledge their commitment and

example, to the development of their own Spiritual growth,

through the committed participation in daily staff devotions

and in their daily prayer life.

They do amazing work at great personal cost and sacrifice,

having always in their minds the wellbeing of the learners.

ZOË CLINIC

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

IBS, also known as spastic colon can negatively affect ones quality of life.

Symptoms: Cramps, abdominal pain, bloating, combination of diarrhea and

constipation.

Causes: Stress, bad diet, not enough fibre and water, certain food intolerances,

gas producing foods.

How can I treat it?:

- Have enough fibre in your diet

- Drink 6-8 glasses of water daily

- Use anti-spasmodic and probiotics obtainable from the pharmacy

- Use peppermint oil

- De-stress by exercising, taking time out, breathing deeply.

- Keep a food record of what seems to cause the problem.

- Avoid caffeine and tobacco

- Limit your intake of “junk food”

HANDY TIPS

To freeze meat separately, put cling film on a tray, lay out your meat so that

pieces are separate. Cover with cling film. Repeat the layers. Place the tray in

the freezer to freeze the meat easily. Then take out only the quantity which

you require for your meal.

Too many tomatoes and fresh herbs—chop and freeze in containers or plastic

freezer bags. Use for stews / pasta sauces and soup. (no need to defrost)

Use “used” margarine tubs to freeze soup / stews in—they stack well and save

space. Mark each container with a permanent marker.

Freeze fizzy drinks that have gone flat in ice trays and give to children as a

treat.

Do not re-freeze any food item that has defrosted. Use within 1 day.

A SHORT STORY BY INO MKULA - GRADE 2

KELLY AND HER FRIENDS

One night Kelly’s friends came to a sleepover at her house. They had a pillow

fight, ate popcorn and watched the movie Frozen. When they went to sleep they

had a dream that they were princesses, living in a castle. They

were wearing pretty pink, blue and purple dresses, but when they

woke up, they remembered that they still lived in a village called

Mkula. Two years later they made a play and became famous.

Now they are rich and live like princesses.

As part of the Life

Orientation

curriculum, the

Grade 7 class

participated in the

National Career Day.

A WORD FROM TIFFANY KUNZIE - GRADE 7

Hebron Christian Academy is a school of excellence. All the learners of

Hebron including me, should be thankful for this opportunity that we have

at Hebron. I thank all the teachers for what they have done for us over the

past years. I will miss Chapel every Friday and all the

knowledge about God. I will also miss all the hugs and the

love the teachers have shown me.

Thank you Pastor Stuart for everything you have done for me,

I will treasure it in my heart forever. I love you and will miss

you.

HEBRON MUST LIVE ON BY DAISY CHIRIMA - GRADE 7

Hebron is not our school but a home away from home. Here we were groomed to

tackle life’s obstacles, not only to prepare us for our future but also for the coming

of our Lord Jesus Christ. Guidance, love and discipline were instilled in us.

Hebron will always be engraved in our hearts. I would like to thank all the teachers

including Uncle Craig and Auntie Marlene for their love, patience and support

especially their dedication. They helped in moulding us to what we are and what

we will become.

To those leaving, let us cherish the fond memories and remember we may be

apart in distance but not in heart.

“Hebron must live on!”

FAREWELL FAMILY FROM TAMIKA LAI WING - GRADE 9

These have been the most amazing 12 years of my life. You have watched me grow up, make mistakes and then learn from them. Most of all you watched me become the strong independent young lady that I am today.

Pastor Stuart and Mam Lynette; Thank you for everything that you have done for me, for the love and support that you have given me and for nurturing and guiding me. I love you both so much.

Pastor Virgil, Pastor Bryan and Pastor John; I will never forget the fun times we shared, Pastor John’s random laughs in class that were contagious, Pastor Bryan’s nicknames that he would give us and Pastor Virgil’s “Special” technique of teaching us maths.

Mam Sonja and Mam Gonda; Thank you for always being there for me, for playing a motherly role in my life. Mam Sonja, I will miss your laughter, your jokes, all the drives we took together and our “fear factor” moments. Mam Gonda, I am going to miss your smile, your beautiful soul, our random hugs and all the stories we shared.

Thank you to all the teachers who taught me throughout the years. Thank you for all the time you spent with me.

This is heart breaking because I don’t only say goodbye to my school, I say goodbye to my family.

I love and will miss you all dearly.

FROM THE MOUTH OF BABES

I like Hebron Christian School

because they teach us wonderful

stuff and this school has a tuck shop.

This school has big love and we are all

a family

Lethu Nyobole - Grade 4

Hebron is where the children of God live! It would be very good for your children. Siya Rathbe - Grade 3

I love Hebron. Hebron has sport like netball, running and soccer. We have Chapel every Friday. Hebron has lovely teachers. Hebron is the family of God. Jasmin Ting Chong - Grade 3

I like this Christian school

because we worship God.

We all love God so much.

The devil is a sly old fox.

We don’t trust the devil.

There are one hundred and

seventy children is this school and we

ALL praise God ALL the time.

Lee Seholoba - Grade 3

I like being in a Christian school because the teachers are nice and the

students are also nice but the best thing that I like is that we learn about

Jesus and we learn about miracles and that anything is possible

through Jesus. I’m glad that my parents brought be to this

school. My favourite is Ma’am Gonda because she is very calm

and a nice lady and she won’t betray us.

Luhle Kuze - Grade 3

FAREWELL SPEECH BY ERIN SMITH—HEAD GIRL 2014

Presented at the 2014 Honour Roll Ceremony

Today is an exciting day and many of you have already been through this period in

your life. This is a time of change, achievement and opportunity.

We know that our moms, dads and our teachers are very proud of us today. We see

it in their smiling faces as they celebrate our achievements, our perseverance and

our success as we grow up. With every year, we have become a little more

independent.

I still remember my first day at Hebron ….. Feeling small and unsure about what to

do but I have made lasting friendships which were strengthened over the past year

especially during our Grade 9 tour. We had some great times this year and some

tough times but we made it through and succeeded. Now we prepare for the next

step on our path and dedicate ourselves to making the next year even better with

lessons we learnt at Hebron.

The most important lesson we take away from Hebron is that of LOVE. The teachers

at Hebron have not only taught us good Christian values, we are family, a loving

Christian family and that is something you don’t get at other schools.

Thank you Pastor Stuart and Mam Lynette, Pastor Virgil and Mam Gonda, Pastor

Bryan and Mam Wilma, Pastor John, Mr. Cor, Mam Penny, Mam Roxanne, Mam

Ursula, Mam Sonja, Mam Esther and Mam Hester. You are a shining example of

what every educator should strive to be.

To next years Prefects and Hebron Students. I wish you all the best and remind you

to keep Hebron’s name up high, where it belongs.

In parting I would like to express my sentiments by quoting these words of wisdom

from a great author, by the name of Dr Seuss:

To the Foundation and Intermediate phase students at Hebron: “A person’s a

person, no matter how small. Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no

one alive who is you’er than you”

To the Senior phase students of Hebron: “You have brains in your head. You

have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.”

To the Parents of Hebron: “Sometimes the questions are complicated and the

answers are simple.”

GOODBYE HEBRON

We thank you so much for the amazing years we’ve spent together. We

really appreciate and cherish every memory that was made. This is not

our school anymore,

this is our home!

We love you Hebron.

Grade 9 Class of 2014.

P A G E 7 I S S U E 0 3 / 1 4

To the Educators of Hebron: “Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is

another one.”

To the Grade 9’s leaving Hebron: “If things start happening, don’t worry, don’t

stew, just go right along and you’ll start happening too.”

I told myself this morning: “Today I shall behave, as if this is the day I will be

remembered.”

Thank you parents and teachers, today you can take a break and reflect and

feel good as parents and mentors knowing that we your children whom you

care about are doing just fine and

we are on the right path. Farewell.
