Snow Leopard Fact Sheet
Snow leopards live in Central Asia across 12different countries. Snow leopards grow to over 4feet with tails that are equally long. Compared tomost other 'big cats' they smaller, and they lack theability to roar. They have many physicaladaptations to help them live in cold weather. Theyhave long thick fur to keep them warm in theirclimate. They even use their long bushy tail as ablanket! Their tummies have long fur to help themget traction on the snow. Their ears are shorter androunder than most other cats to keep them fromlosing heat. Their feet are big and wide and act assnowshoes.
Snow leopards are crepuscular, mean theyare most active at dusk and dawn. The arecarnivores (meat eaters) and hunt any animal thatthey can find. Snow Leopards are an endangeredspecies as there only around 5000 left in the wild.Their population is threatened by poaching and habitat loss. They areoccasionally killed by people who are trying to protect their livestock.
