    Hej there småles,

    It’s the school holidays again!

We had so much fun at the Good Cause Day carnival, you can see the pictures if you missed all the fun and wonder

how it went. For those who were there, you might just be in the pictures! They are on page 5.

We love the new merchandise that just came in that we’ve begun placing it everywhere in the trees, on our bags, on

our tables… you may check it out on page 4.

Recently, we got our hands in soil as we start on our little project of planting. That’s right, we learnt how growing our own food is so much better for the earth and we decided to try it out and boy, are we having fun! You can read about it

    on page 14- 18.

We hope you’ll have fun this holiday!

With Big Bug Hugs,Alex and Tampi

Do you know? That you can grow your own food and eat it too?

Unlike farming which releases harmful chemicals into the air, water and soil, gardening at home is good to the earth. It doesn’t use a large amount of pesticides.

Food that we buy at the markets also has to often be brought there by vehicles such as cars, lorries, vans and planes from the farms far away. These vehicles produce gas

that isn’t good for the earth well. By growing your own food, you rely less on food that are brought by vehicles such as these. Thereby, helping to reduce carbon emissions.

With your own home grown food, not only are you able to do your bit for the earth, you also can safely eat your food knowing it’s free of harmful chemicals like pesticides. Together with mum and dad, you can share in the fun of watching the process of your very own plant growing as well!

Alex and Tampi were talking to Lele one day and suddenly a strong gust of wind blew! What happened after? Email your story to [email protected] or write us a letter to småles, 60 Tampines North Dr 2. Singapore 528764 in no more than 100 words and stand a chance to win a VATTENSNOK Glove puppet!

"Ding Dong!" Tampi and Alex ran to the door as fast as lightning. "Who could that be in the middle of the night?" Alex said as he opened the door. When both of them looked down they spotted a bright yellow box. Jumping in glee, they opened the box and found a strange looking seed. "Let’s plant it!" Tampi exclaimed, he was on cloud nine.

They ran together to the garden and planted the seed. "How I wish this tree will be purple in colour!" Alex wished on the seed. Days pasted, both Alex and Tampi went back to look how the seed growing. What they saw infornt of them was unbelievable, the tree was purple! "Wow!" Alex and Tampi yelled, the most surprising thing was the tree could talk! Every day both of them will skipped their way to the tree and talk to it. The tree love Alex, Tampi and Alex, Tampi love the tree.

Melissa Loh Xin Ru, 11 years old

One day, as Alex and Tampi were strolling in the park, they spotted something green and shiny in the bushes. They went closer and found out that it was actually a seed. Tampi went ahead and picked it up from the bushes. It was really bright and shiny. It shone so brightly that Alex and Tampi could hardly open their eyes. Tampi quickly covered it with his palms. It was less shiny now. Alex and Tampi could finally open their eyes! They both went home with Tampi still holding the seed in his palm. When they reached home, Tampi ran into the garden and quickly dug a hole in the soil, put the seed in it and quickly filled up the hole with soil. He and Alex watered the seed everyday and made sure they gave it enough fertilizer. Soon, a plant started to grow from the soil. At first, it was just like a normal baby plant. After a few days, the plant grew into a money tree! Each leave was worth five thousand dollars and each fruit was worth then thousand dollars! Alex said, “Today must be my best day ever!” He ran to hug and kiss the tree. From that day onwards, the two siblings lived happily ever after!

    Ethan Chok, 8 years old

One fine day, Alex and Tampi found a teapot lying on the ground. They picked it up. All of a sudden, a genie came out of the teapot. They stood rooted to the ground. The genie said calmly,” I want you to hunt for something you have never seen,” They questioned him excitedly, “WHAT IS IT?” The genie said, “I leave that to you,” With that, he disappeared. They hunted until they found an unusual seed. There was a note lying near it….

Well done Alex and Tampi. You have found me.

Water me with Malt chocolate and look what I turn into…

So, they watered it with malt chocolate. A money tree grew after few days. They plucked dollar notes which were hanging its branches. While they were donating money to the needy, the alarm clock started ringing. Alex and Tampi woke up. They realised that it was a strange dream. If not, there wouldn’t be any poor person in this world.

Angadveer Singh Bhatia, 10 years old

IT was a sunny afternoon and Tampi said “look”. Alex ran to Tampi. Tampi said “I found a strange looking seed. Alex decide to plant it. Tampi said “no, I think we should keep it”. They quarrelled with each other. They both decided to plant it. It became a wishing tree. Alex and Tampiwere very surprised. The end.

Lim Xuan Rui, 8 years old

It was a bright and sunny morning. The dazzling sun was up in the azure blue sky. Alex and Tampi were enjoying a morning stroll together. They were enjoying the peace around them, the cool wind and the beautiful greenery. Suddenly, a very strange, small and round object on the ground caught Tampi's eye. It was very colorful. It piqued her curiosity and she picked it up.

"Alex! Look what I found! It is a seed! How did it come here?" exclaimed Tampi. "I wonder what it will grow into. Let's go back and plant it!" said Alex excitedly.

So, they returned back home and immediately planted it. Day after day they watered it, added fertilizer and did whatever they could. The seed germinated soon and after a few more days, the plant was quite tall. It had even started to produce fruits!

One day, Alex and Tampi wanted to open the fruit. They plucked some fruits and immediately opened them. What they saw made them awestruck. The fruit was filled with bits and pieces of recycled paper!

"We can make paper porridge with these pieces of paper! It will be so delicious!" Tampi said.

    "Good idea!" Alex agreed.

Alex and Tampi plucked lots of fruits from the plant and made loads of paper porridge. They feasted on paper porridge from the plant happily for the rest of their lives. But even up to today, they could not find out how the seed of the plant landed in their garden!
