About Us

Since our launch in 2011, we have established our company as a proven, international company serving a rapidly growing worldwide demand for our expanding range of innovative surface solution products.

Our range of highly innovative wallcoverings, paints and plaster all deliver dry erase, magnetic and projector functionality to any smooth surface. We continue to be an R&D led company, constantly looking for ways to improve and expand our product range. In this way, our partners benefit from a comprehensive and cutting edge product range.

The company has gained wide recognition as a rapidly growing business and in 2014, we won every award we entered. These included European Office Products Association’s FM Product of the Year, Emerging Exporter of the Year and the Ulster Bank Achievers Award, proving our excellence in both product development and business.From our headquarters in Dublin, our business currently extends to around 40 countries in five continents, working with local distributors and maintaining country-specific e-commerce websites. As part of our growth strategy, we constantly seek to open up new markets, as well as develop existing ones.

Smarter SurfacesTM Founder and Director, Ronan Clarke is a proven entrepreneur with a background in construction and property investment in Ireland and overseas. From 1998 to 2008, he managed a successful multi-million euro construction business.In 2011, Ronan founded Smarter SurfacesTM. His entrepreneurial talent has been recognised with the awarding of the 2013 David Manley Business Category Award and the 2013 PWC Docklands Innovation Awards.

A director of the company from its earliest days, Denise Doran BBS MBA is an internationally accomplished, senior executive with 20 years demonstrated career success. She has worked with Nortel, Hitachi and Dell, in a variety of global strategic, product, channel and marketing roles. Denise set up the first marketing communications team in Dell UK and Ireland, with an annual budget of €30million, delivering 30% quarter-on-quarter lead generation increases. She also ran her own very successful consultancy company, working with many of Ireland’s top tech start-up companies, as well as government agencies.

With over 20 years’ experience in a range of industrial sectors including transport, retail, manufacture and export, John has managed turnovers in excess of €30 million and staffing of 50 plus. John also operated as an independent financial consultant to a portfolio of privately owned businesses for a number of years.

Enterprise Ireland is the government organisation responsible for the development and growth of Irish businesses in global markets. Smarter Surfaces™ has been supported by Enterprise Ireland since it’s earliest days, and has played a significant role in the development of our R&D programme.

Mark has over 20 years international sales, negotiation and relationship building experience. He is acting advisor to overseas companies who want to increase their sales and margins by introducing the Smarter Surfaces™ product range into their marketplace. Mark joined Smarter Surfaces™ in 2016 with responsibility for leading the rapid expansion of Smarter Surfaces™ network of distributors across Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America.
