Master thesis (examensarbete) proposal:

Smart Factory – Digitalization

Background

Scania Production System philosophy state that the company always shall work with continues improvements of the production system to make it more effective and efficient. Currently, digitalization and smart factory are mentioned as the fourth industrial revolution. To be competitive Scania need to follow the industrial trends. Scania has made several initiative within the digitalization area. Systems are implemented and work methods developed. This research, method and tool development work is coordinated by Global Industrial Engineering Development who is responsible for developing and maintaining Scanias common core competence within production engineering.

Target and assigments: Scania has decided to make a Smart Factory – Digitalization show room there available techniques are developed, illustrated and end users are trained. Within this area we have a number of projects:

- virtual assembly verification - virtual training - factory scanning - smart glasses - smart logistics - human robot collaboration - predict maintenance - shop floor IT

The topics are suggestions. Projects may also be initiated based on students own interest.

Target group: Z, M, E, D, F Number of students: 2 Prerequisites: - Contacts: Franz A Waker, 08-553 81602, [email protected]
