Autumn

Sept—Dec
Autumn Term 2019 Small Groups
Whether you’re new to Bristol Vineyard or have been part of the
church for a while, small groups are a great way to connect with the
community and feel ‘part of the family’. It is a good way to meet new
people, have fellowship together and grow as a disciple of
Jesus.
We try to offer a selection of small groups that cover a range of
themes, meeting on different days/times so that hopefully there is
something for everyone.
The groups run for 12 weeks. Your group leader will confirm a start
date for the group but groups are due to begin w/c Monday 16th
September 2019 and end w/c Monday 2nd December 2019.
This brochure gives details of all the groups starting in Spring 2019
and you can reserve a place right now! Decide which group you
would like to join and then either sign up from Sunday 1st Septem-
ber onwards at church, contact Karin in the church office on
0117 373 1414 or email [email protected] to book your
place. It’s first-come, first-served.
• Sign up closes on Sunday 15th September 2019
Thank you once again to everyone who has volunteered to lead a
group. The system only works because of all the time and energy you
give.
Other ways to get involved There are lots of other ways that you can also get involved in the
BV community and feel ‘part of the family’.
• Serving—there are plenty of different serving opportunities
both on a Sunday and throughout the week. Joining a team is a
really great way to meet others in the church, grow in your
discipleship and use your gifts to serve God and his people.
• Prayer triplets—meeting together with two others to pray,
read the bible and share what God is doing in your life is a
fantastic way to grow in faith and discipleship and to develop
deeper relationships with others.
If you are not yet in a prayer triplet then please contact Simon
at [email protected] and he can give you more detailed
guidelines and support in finding people.
• Area groups—have you thought about getting together
with other people that live nearby to pray together for your
local community? It could be quite informal—meeting once
every two weeks or once a month in the evening as adults or
perhaps during the day with families involved too…..
Get in touch with [email protected] if you have any
questions about this.

Yes we pray, a good chance to have a breather and focus on our amazing God and every 5ish weeks we will meet not to run but simply worship and pray.
That's the thing about running: your greatest runs are rarely measured by racing success. They are moments in time where running allows you to see how wonderful your life is and who you are in God... Come and join us.

Early shift: 6.45pm—9pm, Late shift: 7.45pm—10.30pm
Venue: Crisis centre ministries, 32 Stapleton Road. See their website:
https://www.crisis-centre.org.uk/content/wild-goose
Focus on: The Wild Goose
If you’re looking to get more involved in our church community,
volunteering at the Wild Goose is a great option to consider. The Wild
Goose Café is a homeless drop-in centre run by Crisis Centre Ministries
which provides support and free hot meals for the homeless and
vulnerable in our city six nights a week. The Goose is mainly staffed by
volunteers from churches across the city who work in teams to meet the
needs of the guests who come through the doors.
We help to run the Café on every other Monday evening, and we split the
evening into two shifts. Those keen to help with prep work can choose the
early shift starting at 6:45pm. The role of those on the early shift normally
includes making a fruit salad and cutting up cakes and pastries to serve on
plates before the guests arrive, and then joining up with the rest of the
team who arrive at 7:45pm to start serving food to those in need. The
doors open at 8pm, before which there is a short briefing about tasks that
need to be done, the different roles of our team members, followed by a
time of prayer.
The cooking is done in advance by the chef, so all we need to do is serve
the people coming in. We usually serve two or three different main
courses, there is a station for tea and coffee and an area where fruit and
desserts are given out. Sometimes we also have sandwiches to give out
which takes place at 9pm. This is also roughly the time when the early
shift volunteers start making their way home. There are lots of
opportunities to interact with the guests whilst serving them or collecting
plates and mugs to be washed, and most people are very kind and
appreciative of receiving some care and attention.
However, if this seems a bit daunting, there are other opportunities to
help that require less interaction with the guests, so everyone can find
something they feel comfortable doing. After cleaning and tidying up, the
Wild Goose closes at around 10pm. The team are very friendly and
welcoming, and volunteering at the Goose is a great way to form deeper
relationships with those on the team whilst caring for and showing love to
people who are often overlooked.
