KuDOS to OUR STUDENTS It is wonderful to see that many students are still practicing their 5 expectations. What they are showing: I will respect others so please respect me. How they are showing this: They follow instructions when asked to stay in the designated area during lunch.. Ask for teacher permission to leave the classroom for fountain and restroom use. Keeping good behavior while in their designated areas. What they are showing: I will have pride in my school.. How they are Showing this: Wearing their uniform top everyday. Opting to use khaki-colored long pants to the best of their resources. What they are showing: I will be my best at all times How they are showing this: Following school rules and expectations. Doing their best in their assignments What they are showing: I will be on time and prepared for class How are they showing this: Arriving to class on time Asking for a pass if they are late to the next class Bringing materials needed in class daily What they are showing: I will respect others, so please respect me How they are showing this: They are attentive when listening to others They use kind words when speaking to others SMACK!!! It’s a mosquito! Not to be taken lightly. Allowing our students to protect themselves from these pests and the possible Dengue virus has set in place new practices when it comes to our school uniform. In a memo sent out by our Superintendent, Mr. J. Fernandez, requests for all schools to relax on the enforcement of the school uniform. This request was made as a precautionary measure and for the safety and health of our students. It is apparent that many students are actively participating in practicing health safety. So what can we do to ensure their health and to keep order when it concerns our students and the school environment. Below are some ideas to guide our students into understanding why they are allowed to wear items that were not allowed before. 1. It is NOT a dress down. The virus is a serious matter. The purpose of keeping yourself covered is to avoid getting bit by a mosquito carrying the virus. 2. Try your best to stay within the school uniform expectations :-) Wear your school uniform top every day . This is a Required item of your wardrobe. Exposed skin from the short sleeves may be protected by wearing a long sleeve shirt underneath, golf arm sleeves or any type of jacket over your uniform top. 3. The school is aware that there are many students who have purchased only khaki shorts bottoms. To accommodate the situation, a variety of long pants, including the uniform Khaki long pants may be worn to cover your legs. 4. If a student comes to school completely out of uniform, in shorts that are not Khaki, questionable graphics on jackets or sleeves, ripped jeans or too tightly fitted pants please send them to the office for attire assessment :-) This should be done during homebase. TEACHERS PLEASE FILL OUT THE ODR :-) The virus may not be the only hazard to our students’ health and safety. Be on the lookout for students who are suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion, the common cold and allergies. Allergies may be a reaction to the repellent they might be using. Help our students understand what the symptoms are for their body overheating and allergic reactions.

SMACK!!! It’s

a mosquito!

Not to be taken lightly.

Allowing our students to protect themselves from these pests and the possible Dengue virus has set in place new practices when it comes to our school uniform. In a memo sent out by

our Superintendent, Mr.

2. Try your best to stay within the school uniform expectations :-) Wear your school uniform top every day.

TEACHERS PLEASE FILL OUT THE ODR :-)

The virus may not be the only hazard to our students’ health and safety. Be on the lookout for students who are suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion, the common cold and allergies. Allergies may be a reaction to the repellent they might be using. Help our students understand what the symptoms are for their body overheating and allergic reactions.

September 30 - October 11, 2019 Activities List October is the month for Anti-bully Awareness and Red Ribbon Week.  FBLG pledges to be Drug Free. Below is a list of activities to try out in your classroom. These are recommendations and can be replaced by one of your Awesome Activities. We also placed a checkbox for each, as you complete the assignment you can keep track of activities you have already completed.

Understanding Dengue Fever. What causes it and how to prevent it.

Below is the Guam Homeland Security website. Use the information there to educate our school community.

https://ghs.guam.gov/jic-release-no-10-two-schools-remain-closed-harvest-christian-academy-resume-classes-tuesday

Think of a catchy saying instead of “Just say no to drugs!” and draw it as a t-shirt

design!

Here are a few alternative slogans to get you started: https://brandongaille.com/61-catchy-just-say-no-to-drugs-slogans/   Team Point Getter!!! 30pts per team time submission  Due Date: October 30th :-)

Write a story about how using drugs OR bullying negatively affects you and those around you.

Share your stories in class and discuss how these stories can help you make the right choices!

Hold a competition in class to see which group of students can come up with the most activities that you could be doing

instead of using drugs or bullying. The group with the most can post their activities up in class!

  Create a pamphlet that

encourages others to stay drug free OR to be

an upstander, not a bystander. An upstander is

someone who recognizes when something is wrong and acts to

make it right.
