SLP4ALL AFTER-SCHOOL IPAD CLUBLeo Baeck North Campus
Location: Leo Baeck Day School, North CampusGrades: 5 - 8Dates of iPad Club: Monday March 2, 9, 16 and *23, 2015Times: 3:45-5:15 (*with the exception of the 23rd which will be from 2:45-4:15 due to EDM)Cost: $250.00/studentRegistration is limited to ten students per four-class session.
Parent Information Session: Feb. 19, 2015 at 7:00, Leo Baeck North Campus, Chapel In this one hour session, you will learn about the different ways in which students are using their iPads to help them in school. An overview of the different topics will be provided as well as important information about the After-School iPad Club that has been run several times already in the school.Cost: Free
This is a four part certificate course and students are required to complete each session in order to receive their certificates.
Topics to be covered are:
•Setting up Your iPad as a Cool Tool for School•Getting Organized: The Cloud, iPad Binders and More!!•Note Taking Made Fun and Simple•From Paper to Pad: Complete Your Worksheets and Tests on the iPad•From Head to Pad: Essay Writing Made Easy•Study Skills: Have Fun While Studying...Really!!
For students requiring additional assistance in writing or help in other areas such as reading or researching, individual sessions can be arranged with a Speech Language Pathologist from SLP4ALL - please contact Sharlene Cantor Bagola at [email protected] for more information on these services. Individualized needs-based assessments are also available.
Session #1:I. Get Organized II. Cool Tools for Writing!• Set up your iPad to be used as a cool tool for school.• No more papers and binders...it's all on the Pad!!• Keep forgetting your homework at school? Never again!! Learn how to use the cloud.• Learn how to take notes using a variety of cool multi-media tools.

Session #2:I. From Paper to Pad - Turn Your iPad into a Scanner!• No more crumpled papers at the bottom of your backpack...learn how to scan your worksheets and
tests so you can complete them on the iPad.• You will learn how to use your multi-media tools to fill out these documents.
Session #3:I. From Head to Pad - Learn How to Write Essays on Your iPadII. Homework Management Tools• Have lots of great ideas, but have trouble getting them all down onto "paper"? Learn how to use some
highly effective tools to improve your essay writing process.• Get more organized by learning how to effectively use an "iPad Agenda" or calendar system. Keep track
of due dates, learn how to chunk assignments and plan your study schedules.
Session #4:I. Study SkillsII. Review and Wrap Up• Did you ever think you could have fun while studying?? Come see how!• Learn how to hand-in, share or print your work from your iPad
A Certificate of Completion will be given to each student at the end of the fourth session. The certificate is meant to be used by the student as a self-advocacy tool. Students are encouraged to present their certificates to their teachers as evidence that they have learned how to use their iPads as a tool for school. As well, students will compile work samples throughout the course that will demonstrate their skills and knowledge in each of the different areas.
Please note that we make every effort to cover all of the above topics in the four sessions booked, but in some circumstances, a fifth session may be needed (for an additional cost). In addition, the order in which the topics are taught may vary from group to group.
