Town Centre Manager- I have managed the town centre retail partnership and operations for four and a half years working with three Heads of Service during that time. I have guided the section through the establishment of the BID from inception to the recent re-election. I manage 8 office /supervisory staff and 28 frontline staff. I have introduced efficiency savings where there has been a further 6 front line staff not replaced. The areas I have covered are markets, car parking, events, toilets, town hall, bus station, station. I have delivered a programme of marketing and events to stimulate footfall into the town centre. Maintenance of the town centre infrastructure has been an integral part of the role. We typically create a footfall of 9.6 million people per year into the town centre with a safe and efficient accommodation of 23,000 throughput attendance at the Christmas switch on event with 8,000 people in the market place each year. I manage an income budget of circa £2.5 million and circa £1 million pounds staffing, establishment and maintenance budget.

I manage disciplinary, performance and absence/ attendance management. We have the best attendance figures in the council which is a monumental turnaround from one of the worst attendance records when I was appointed in July 2010.

I work in partnership with the Police and BID to monitor and implement strategies to reduce town centre crime and disorder working closely with MPAC.

I engage in a healthy partnership with the BID.

I am a member of the steering group which has recently achieved a purple flag award for the night time economy.

I work with the local media to promote the town and highlight any initiatives where partners may wish to use the town centre area to promote services and activities.

I have worked with the local football team on large events affecting car parking and traffic management around the town centre making the Robin Hood Line Car Park available for large games like Chesterfield V Mansfield etc.

I managed the Direct Labour Organisation for Mansfield District Council. I was responsible for five Staff and thirty four Operatives. I managed the Civil Engineering highways and Street Lighting. I deputised for The Unit Manager of Engineering. The Turnover was significantly increased to £3.2 million which included a major town centre enhancement of Bridge Street.

Previously in my two and a half years at Mansfield District Council, I was Team Leader of the Engineering Design Team and delivered a £1.6 million Market Place environmental improvement; Phase 1 of the £250,000 new Visitor Interchange; Westgate environmental improvement scheme £250,000; Church Street Environmental improvement scheme £160,000.
