We need to remember that skills do not create jobs. Therefore, skills must complement the work-place needs to lead the way.
The concept of ‘learnership’, that is based on the precept that the functionary should be enabled to access relevant work experience and up-date skills should be promoted.
Training in skills needs to be seen as a process of developing in oneself or others, any skills and knowledge that relate to specific useful competencies related to work-tasks or work-place functions.
The on-the-job training takes place in a normal working situation, using the actual materials, tools, equipment, documents, manuals or modules that trainees will use when fully trained.
The studies have proved that the On-the-job trainings are effective for job-skills and vocational work. It involves the functionaries receiving the training at the place of work while doing the actual job at the work place.
