What are the Entry Requirements?

• Under normal circumstances, a minimum of 6 GCSEs at Grade B.

• Recommend at least GCSE Grade B in your chosen A’ Level subjects.

• To take A’ Level Sciences and English Literature : Strongly recommend at least Grade A at GCSE!

• GCSE grade A is essential for A’ level Mathematics

Most students start 4 subjectsat A’ level.

(12 lessons each per fortnight)

Most students drop one of these subjects by the end of the first term.

Some students will complete4 or 5 A’ levels.

The Decision Process – Subject Choices

• ‘Subject Preference’ forms given out on– Friday 15 January

• ‘Subject Preference’ forms to be returned by– Tuesday 26 January

• Student option forms to be returned by– Thursday 11 February

Choose the subjects you most enjoyand are good at!

In addition to A’ levels…..• Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

– Taken in Year 12 in addition to 2 or 3 A’ levels– [Or taken in Year 13 in addition to 2 A’ levels]– Carries ‘UCAS points’ equivalent to half an A’ level– 8 lessons per fortnight

• European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)– Taken in Year 13 in addition to 2 A’ levels– Level 3 qualification, building on prior ICT knowledge– Carries ‘UCAS points’ equivalent to grade D at A’ level

In addition to A’ levels…..• Senior Games

– Representative team sports and a range of other options– 4 lessons per fortnight (each Thursday afternoon)

• Enrichment programme– A range of non-A’ level topics– 1 lesson per fortnight

• English as an Additional Language– For students whose first language is not English– 4 lessons per fortnight
