Sister Mary Jane Buhrman SSND - 70 Year Jubilee! Mary Jane Buhrman is one of 10 sisters and two brothers born to parents, Charles and Mary Jane Wyles. Mary Jane was born on July 20, 1928 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame at St. Mary in Hagerstown, Maryland in 1946 and professed first vows in Baltimore in the summer of 1949. She taught for nearly 50 years in Baltimore City and surrounding area, Philadelphia, and Rochester, N.Y. She then ministered in community service and religious education in Philadelphia for another decade. She currently resides in Baltimore. Sister Mary Jane taught primary grades, kindergarten, first and second grades, all of her active religious life. She loved teaching and loved help- ing the children learn to read and get a good start in their education. Sister Mary Jane also loved to draw, color and paint. Art came naturally to her. Although she was never an art teacher per se, she taught the children art in her classes too. Upon retire- ment, she set up an art studio at Villa Assumpta and has painted many pieces for sisters as special requests and gifts. In fact, there is a painting of an oriole hanging in the room of our greatest sports fan, Sister Kenneth Marie.

Sister Mary Jane Buhrman SSND - 70 Year Jubilee!

Mary Jane Buhrman is one of 10 sisters and two brothers born to

parents, Charles and Mary Jane Wyles. Mary Jane was born on July

20, 1928 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. She entered the School

Sisters of Notre Dame at St. Mary in Hagerstown, Maryland in 1946

and professed first vows in Baltimore in the summer of 1949. She

taught for nearly 50 years in Baltimore City and surrounding area,

Philadelphia, and Rochester, N.Y. She then ministered in community
