SIMULATION-DRIVEN-DESIGN AND PROCESS AUTOMATIZATIONSCENARIO
I. In order to accelerate the development cycle design engineers are to be supported by simulations when designing new machine superstructures.
II. The simulation must run as a "black-box" in the background and no additional know-how on the part of the designers should be required.
III. Geometry changes should easily be incorporated and should not lead to large additional expenditure.
IV. Template-based, automated workflows should relieve the simulation experts so that they have more time for method development.

SIMULATION-DRIVEN-DESIGN AND PROCESS AUTOMATIZATIONSCENARIO
For different tools, the load-related deviation of the tool tip must lie within a certain tolerance (requirement profile).
Key parameters are the geometry of the tool, travel paths of the tip, sheet thicknesses of the superstructure and the position of the tool (extreme positions).
The effects of these design parameters are to be checked directly by the designer during the development process.

The machine head caneasily be replaced, e.g. by revisioning. The model definitionsare automaticallyadapted and noredefinition is needed.
This enablesautomated testing ofdifferent machinetypes.

SIMULIA – PROCESS COMPOSERSETUP OF A SIMPLE DOE STUDY
Choose the variables for the DOE study and specify their range, depending on the chosen DOE technique (values, %, etc.).
Here, the tool positioning is preconfigured to cover the extreme values. The load factor and sheet thicknesses are input variables of the designer.
To examine the influence of the mesh density, three different mesh sizes are checked.
Factors
The objective function is computed in dependence of the chosen output parameters.
The reponse variables can be minimized, maximized or approaching a target value.
Multiple output variables can contribute to the objective function. A normalization of the values is recommended to not over-/undervalue a certain argument.

The designer can directly study the influence of different parameters on the overall systems response and is therefore able to propose feasible designs for further investigations.
The simulations are executed via the web application. No local installation is required for the designer.
