Costume, hair and make-upCostume, hair and make-up is important in a movie, because it dictates to us the characters mood, personality and state of mind. Also, costume, hair and make-up is an indicator of the the time in which eh movie is set. In this context, it is a clear indicator that Juno is in a state of panic.

The use of costume, hair and make-up in this scene is important, because it is and indicator that Juno is in a state of panic. Also, it shows us that Juno is scared and fearful of something, as she is made to be sweating intensely in this scene.

Lighting and ColourThe lighting and colour of a scene can dictate the mood and meaning of it. The lighting and colour can also create a dramatic effect in the scene and compliment the personality of the characters.

In this scene, the lighting and colour is used to highlight the importance of the crawler in the background and the sheer fright it brings to girls. Also, the lack of lighting and the night vision effect is used to emphasize the frightful presence of the crawler.

Settings and propsThe settings and props are important in a scene, because it can set the mood of the upcoming events and manipulates the audience into predicting the forthcoming future of the movie.

The setting and props is important in this scene, because it sets the horrific future of the movie, as all around the girls there is human skulls and bones, therefor the scene appeals to the audience as a creepy burial ground and allows them to predict that noting good will come out of the cave. Also, the use of the flare as a light indicates that they are at a point of desperate survival, as they are using their flares which they kept for only at use of an emergency.

Facial expressions and body languageFacial expressions and body language is important in a movie, because facial expressions and body language can act as an indicator to the audience of how the character is feeling and what mood they are in. the body language of a character can also suggest to the audience of how the character is feeling towards another character and the relationship to them.

In this scene, we can see that Juno is afraid of something, as we can tell from her facial expression, because her eyebrows are raised at an arc and her eyes are open as she is aware of her surrounding and afraid.

Positioning of characters/objects within the frame§

The positioning of characters and objects within a frame is important, because if the characters are placed correctly or objects are placed correctly, then the this makes the scene far more effective and dynamic.Also, the correct and efficient placing of a character or frame can draw the audiences attention to it. Furthermore, positioning can indicate relationships between characters.

In this scene, we see one of the characters of the Descent looking out for the crawler and being in a state of panic. The fact that the the crawler is placed in the background of the frame and we can see it from over the shoulder, adds effect to the crawler and draws the audiences attention rowards it. Also, this makes the horror of the movie far more effective.
