SIMPLICITY OF STRESS In our culture, the term “work/life balance” has taken on a new phrase. It’s now “work/life integration”. However, we haven’t been given the skills for integration within this new paradigm. Instead, we live in the feeling of our negative habitual thinking; stress. Everything we do, feel, think and believe has a direct impact on our state of our short and long term health. The Simplicity of Stress For Physician Wellness program embarks on the journey of moving from dis-stress to eustress. Eustress means “good stress”. The difference is our perception of the present moment. It’s optimizing our cognitive & emotional intelligence physiology into one that actually increases our performance, our general happiness and sense of well-being. Let’s face it. The activities and responsibilities of working in the healthcare system won’t change any time soon, but we can change how we interact with the system. That means we have to change how we’re operating within it by incorporating effective self- care strategies that support integration within our environment including self- regulation, lifestyle behaviors and mind/body medicine. This course aims to reduce physician burnout by building a resilient body & mind through situational awareness- based practices of yoga, yoga breathing, mindfulness and meditation. Our training provides the tools and skills to fully integrate self-care routines into your day with mind/body medicine protocols to alleviate feelings of stress and burnout. The goal of this course is to enhance the professional knowledge, skills and habits of each participant on the role of yoga, yoga breathing & mindfulness- based strategies as medicine within: -- stress reduction & burnout -- building resilience -- healthcare & disease management -- prevention & lifestyle -- healthful exercise and well-being As well as provide participants with the tools to incorporate these mind/body medicine strategies into their own personalized self-care routine, self regulation, patient care and patient education. We will also demonstrate how these mind/body medicine strategies can help reduce stress, heal chronic illness and alleviate the signs/symptoms of disease within their respective areas of expertise for improving patient care and health outcomes.
