This power point is to show my research on the target audience of three artists that has a similar music genre to what I plan to use.

The three artists I am studying is Adele, Taylor Swift and Vanessa Carlton.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift Taylor Swift is an

American country pop singer-songwriter. She became especially well known in the UK after she released her song “Love Story”. Her target audience comprise of teenage girls and young adult women.

Taylor Swift

Swift’s method of promotion is mainly done on the internet via social networking sites which appeals to many teenagers. She also goes on talk shows as a guest.

Taylor Swift Swift’s website is very

vibrant and cluttering with information about Taylor. Immediately, you see a video clip from youtube (a website used globally, especially by younger generation) of her current tour.

Taylor Swift On her website you

can use a feature that turns your facebook page into a Taylor Swift themed personal website. This helps her raise her profile as many teenagers now use facebook to communicate on the internet.

Taylor Swift also has an iPhone application that allows the audience to record their own voice into the app, making the app more interactive.

Adele

Adele Adele is an English

singer who has become prolific in the past 2 years in the UK and the US. Her music genre consists of soul and blues, mostly singing about heart break or romance.

Adele Adele has an older target

audience of both genders, mostly women of mid 20s to late 30s but there is a growing number of teenage audience. Adele’s website is more simplistic and contemporary compared to Taylor Swift’s vivid and cluttered site. I think this is because the target audience is on the website to look for something rather than to surf the website.

Adele On her website there

are many features such as the discussion forums, photo gallery, her blog of latest news as well as her merchandise store. Being connected digitally suggests her target audience are familiar with technology.

Vanessa Carlton

Vanessa Carlton Vanessa Carlton is

an American singer songwriter who produces soft piano, rock music. She first became first in 2002 when her single “A Thousand Miles” was debuted, which hit top 5 in America chart hits.

Vanessa Carlton Carlton’s website

is very simplistic and interactive in a similar way to Adele’s website but Carlton’s website has a more personal touch to the layout.

Conclusion

From researching three artists with different target audiences, it made me see the similarities between then as well as the differences. As we live in a digital age, whatever your genre, being known on social networks such as twitter or facebook is very important.
