SOUTHEAST PHILADELPHIA CPLN600 Planning Workshop Group of Six
Southeast Philadelphia is currently struggling neighborhood featuring 36% foreign born population – mostly Asian immigrants and refugees. The neighborhood lacks its own cohesive identity, and is bounded by several established communities with strong identities and centered a failing commercial corridor. It is suffering from low home value and extremely low tree coverage. I am in charge of most of the mapping tasks.

RESTAURANT HEALTH INSPECTION PRODICTION IN CHICAGO CPLN 590 Applications of Urban Spatial Analysis Group of Two
ABOVE: The spatial analysis course challenged us with predictive
modeling using regression on the outcome of restaurant health inspect,
and design an interface to make it communicate-able, in hope to allocate
food inspect resources more efficiently. When you zoom out to city scale, it
looks as the image on the right. If zoomed in to a particular area, like
Chinatown above, the predicted outcomes are shown as faces indicating its
level of predicted food safety.
Predicted Probability of restaurants failing health Inspect
My concentration in graduate planning study in PennDesign is land use and environmental planning, the first semester was less about design but more about fundamental theories and spatial analysis techniques.

BONEYARD VISTA – MIDTOWN REVITALIZATION PLAN UP426 Urban Design and Planning Group of Three
Midtown Champaign, situated between the city’s downtown and the University of Illinois campus, is an area in search of a vibrant and complete identity. A proposed neighborhood core – the Boneyard Vista – at the northern end of the Boneyard Creek has the potential to provide that unique identity for Midtown. The project is based on a mix of conceptual urban design, as well as lynchian analysis of the neighborhood. The result is a well-defined neighborhood that is both self-sufficient, as well as a stronger link in the regional context. In addition to a portion of text, I was responsible for the site analysis, phasing of improvements and cross section streetscape design.

BONEYARD VISTA – MIDTOWN REVITALIZATION PLAN UP426 Urban Design and Planning
This is a mid-block streetscape cut section view of
one of the major street that we propose to change
from 4 lanes to 2 lanes with wider sidewalks,
adding bike lanes and back-in diagonal parking,
as well as mixed use buildings on both sides. I
completed this image entirely on my own.

The project of a downtown mixed-use transit facility is initiated by the inter-governmental agreement between the City of Urbana and the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District. I took a principal design role in this project, undertaking most of the modeling and visualization works.
