Computationally Light Audio based Semantic

 Analysis Tool (CLASAT) (IIT Kanpur)

CLASAT is an under-development audio basedcontext and event recognition system formobile.

Platform which extracts information about the

environment in which the audio has beenrecorded e.g. whether the environment is amarket place, a park or a bus stand. The mostintriguing applications include homesurveillance system like anti-theft alarm orbaby-nanny app, a system for monitoring heartbeats of arrhythmia patient, live phone-call

audio analysis and many more.

3D Tube

A novel full-parallax 3D display system is proposed. It is suitable for interactive and intuitive 3Dvisualization and its applications.

The approach draws inspiration from the famous Pepper’s  Ghost magic technique. Theinnovation is based on the semi-reflective glass

projection technology in which several imagesprojected from an LCD screen are displayed on avirtual screen when seen from a semi-reflectivescreen. When viewers view the screen through ahalf mirror, they see (without the aid of glasses)a 3D-image superimposed in real space. Theproposed system enables a user to physically

interact with the 3D-image.

Facial Analytics

The innovation proposes a method to determine a ge, gender and identity of a human entity from its facial photograph.

The method analyses facial features like wrinkles, geometry and/or texture to find a discriminatingset that can help distinguish between different

age categories or human gender. Digital ImageProcessing techniques are used to extract human faces from individual or group photographs andstandardize them, followed by feature extractionto highlight the discriminating set of patternswhich is learnt by a machine learning model.

Insense

Many species of fish use electric fields to perceivetheir environment. Electric Field Sensing is apractical and useful mechanism for machines toperceive their human users and for people tointeract with technology. A novel 3D model ofa device consisting of an array of horizontalsensors supplemented by vertical sensors is

proposed for Electric Field Sensing.

Proposed device has the following advantages:Inexpensive hardware for taking measurementsat milli-second rates, portability, low energyrequirements, non-intrusive technology, andversatility. Since electric fields penetrate non-

conductors, sensors can be hidden; providingprotection from weather, wear as well as addingelement of magic.

Picture Vocabulary App for Competitive Exams

The app provides an effective way of learning di fficult vocabulary words through your androidphone or tablet using images and correspondingsentences. It serves as preparation for examssuch as GRE, CAT, SAT

The approach provides a platform for user to

upload images with corresponding sentences for different words and also rank the alreadyavailable images. It enables context basedlearning through user data & already availableimages. This learning is reinforced throughspaced repetition method of learning(flashcards)

Non Invasive, Cuffless Blood Pressure & Heart

Rate measurement system

CLASAT is an under-development audio basedcontext and event recognition system formobile.

The system comprises of signal acquisition,

signal processing, data transmission andestimation of blood pressure on smart phone. Apeak detection and filtering algorithm toestimate the parameter VTT which is related tothe systolic blood pressure is estimated. Thevalues are transmitted via Bluetooth to anandroid application to estimate and displayblood pressure as well as Heart Rate.
