Digital Camera

I used a digital camera to take my

photos.

I edited the settings on my camera as I wanted to used natural light I turned off my flash

I didn’t use the zoom as I thought it would down grade the quality of my photos so I placed the camera in the right position for taking the photos.

I also increased the Macro option on my camera which I thought gave my pictures better quality than on normal.

YouTube

When I uploaded my pictures on the computer I inserted them into Widows Movie Maker so the I was able to edit the time for each picture so that my stop motion would go faster and flow this meant making the stop motion shorter but this meant it not going stop/start and going quite slow. I also added effects to the first and last clip (Fade in/out).

Then I uploaded it onto

Embedding into blog

When embedding into my blog I created a new post and inserted the YouTube video, I then published that post.

Drafting

I had a few ideas with the Pixar idea. First I was just going to do just the lamp jumping across the screen and jumping on the ‘I’ like originally does but as I was researching on YouTube I found a clip when the light goes out in the lamp and Wall.E comes to fix it so I thought I would use this as my inspiration but tweak it a little to make it different to the original.

Building Narrative

I knew I didn’t want a simple narrative like boy meets girl I wanted something that wouldn’t be boring and I would enjoy creating.

I didn’t find it difficult to build a narrative, I just found it difficult coming up with an idea and once I had my idea I look on YouTube for inspiration on my stop motion.

As my idea was some to do with the Pixar logo I looked up at different ideas in which Pixar had done and I found which had a relative good narrative that I could use.

What to use

I took some ideas of what to use from the previous stop motion that I did in class which was to use a cardboard box to stick my background on to it. I printed all of my characters and background off the computer and used blue tack to stick my characters on the background this also made it easy for my to move the characters along the background.

Working With Someone

I didn’t work with anyone which didn’t seem to make it difficult for me to do my stop motion but if I did work with someone then it wouldn’t of taken me so much time to create my stop motion

Limits of resources, time, location

I didn’t really have limited resources apart from the fact that I didn’t have a tripod to put my camera on to place the camera in the right position and to keep it steady but I was able to use other resources to mimic what a tripod does but it wasn’t perfect so in some parts of my project it is a little jumpy as the camera wasn’t always in the same position throughout the project. I was able to use the location that I had chosen but the time that I had it made it difficult as I used natural light for most of project but near the end I had to use artificial light which unfortunately made the continuity of my project quite poor.

Use of Narrative

I used a original narrative in my stop motion but then developed my own by adding something that wasn’t in my original

Protagonist/antagonist

I used two main characters in which both have different roles to play, in the narrative they are not opposing each other in fact one is helping the other.

Mise en Scene

This does contribute to the narrative as without it my narrative might have been a little pointless, if anything I wouldn't be able to do my stop motion with out the mise en scene

Continuity

I sort of challenge this convention as I has to use artificial light instead of natural light near the end of the stop motion because I didn’t have any natural light left, which unfortunately made the continuity of my project slightly poor

Framing

I had to make sure that the framing of my stop motion was the same throughout and included everything that I wanted in the frame when I was taking the pictures like I had to make sure that the logo for Pixar was in the same place and I wasn’t cutting off any of the letters. I also has to make sure that you couldn’t see the cardboard box in which the background was stuck onto.
