Why I love the BRIT school FULLNAME: Shifa MaruthiyilAGE: 14SCHOOL YEAR: 10STRAND: FMP

  1.    I wanted to join the BRIT school as I know it will increase the possibility of me being a Broadcast Journalist, which is my dream. Also the BRIT school is known for the opportunities it gives to students.  I feel blessed to be a part of BRIT a wonderful, welcoming and educating school. The school is acknowledged for strands like Theatre, Music and MT, but FMP is also a very talented strand and I hope to fulfil my dreams and hopes with the help of BRIT.

2.    The application process was not as hard as I thought it would be, All you had to do was answer questions relevant to your chosen strand, so that it is clear that you have an interest within the strand. What I did was Answer in detail and make it clear that I understood the key parts of FMP.

3.    The advice I would give anyone wishing to come to the BRIT school would be, audition for the strand you absolutely LOVE doing and hope to have a career in the future, be 100% serious about BRIT, it isn’t like your old school, it isn’t easier, its harder, more serious and more responsibilities come with it. When applying and coming to the interview/audition be yourself and give 100% effort, also give detail and bring something (a portfolio or a video) to prove your interest is genuine.

4.    My favourite subject out of Strand would be Drama. I love drama, it helps me express my feelings, empathising with different characters is like an adventure and exploring a range of story

lines. It helps me gain confidence and also helps me excel in strand with radio having a clearer voice is key.

5.    My Favourite part of strand so far would definitely be Radio as I am really talkative and driving in the radio station is very interesting and I really enjoy it. I learn something new everyday in radio, I also enjoy script work as well.

6.    What I love most about attending the BRIT school would be strand of course but also the people there, yes I have only been here for a short period of time but I have made a lot of friends, not just in strand but throughout the school, the school is very accepting and everyone is welcoming and I have not seen bullying at all in this school. Everyone is nice to everyone, older years too. A school filled with talented, respectful and kind young people- that’s BRIT!

7.    The skills I am learning in strand is universal, literally I can use them in every lesson, break lunch even at home. For example scripting is very useful in English, literature, even maths, for timing. Even in every day life for being organised.

8.    When I leave the BRIT school, which I am not looking forward too, I hope and aspire to be a broadcast journalist working in the BBC in the News. That is my goal in life and I will do everything for it to become a reality.

9.    BRIT is a great school and a great opportunity if your looking to come here I say, go for it as you will definitely regret it if you don’t…
