This has been a really busy term which has seen lots of our students excelling at numerous
sporting events, participating in the Barnet Dance Festival and going on trips to China
Town, St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, The Tower of London, The London Eye ,
The Science Museum, Hendon Air Museum and many other places of interest. There have
been two residential trips, we have had a science day in school and there have been two dif-
ferent musical concerts for the students to enjoy .
Many of the activities we provide would not be possible without the support of our school
charity, Hearts of Oak. Our next fundraising event is our Summer Party for Adults on May
7th and we do hope that you will be able to attend.
Sadly, we say goodbye today to Mr Churnin, one of our teaching assistants, who is returning
to his previous career as a chef! He will be greatly missed, but we all wish him well for the
future!
I hope you all have a good Easter. School re-opens on 26th April.

P1 went to Summers Lane Recycling Centre last Tuesday as part of a lesson in En-
vironmental Awareness. They had a guided tour of all the recycling stations and
learnt about how items such as glass, paper, cardboard, clothes, oil, cooking oil,
cds, videos and even wood are recycled. It was very interesting and some of the
class took the opportunity to have their photo taken with a recycled creature from
the black lagoon.
Post 16 celebrated the World Autism Awareness Day by listening to and inter-
acting with members of The St. John’s Orchestra. John Lubbock, the Artistic
Director, found some real conductor talents amongst us!
P5 had a great trip to the Science Museum. Guillaume and Jordan found out
about the Tuesday events and navigated us to the 3rd floor to see the ‘Bubble
Show’. The performer of the show was very impressed with Louis, who said that
‘Bubbles are 3D shapes’. Adam showed everyone ‘the Space’, his favourite
room in the museum and Nikita and Nicola admired the main hall. Elliott liked
the old objects, especially the radios. We really enjoyed our day!
On Tuesday, 5th April, P4 went to
the Battersea Dogs’ and Cats’
home and then they went to see
the Buddha Pagoda in Battersea
Park.

S7 and the year 11 history option group went on a
visit to Kenwood House on Wednesday. The beau-
tiful weather made the gardens look magnificent
and they learnt the names of certain plants, like
magnolias. They also learnt the names of the Cana-
dian and Egyptian geese.
23 students went to Southbury Swimming School for a Barnet v Enfield Swimming
event. It was a thrilling morning , with a high level of competition, lots of exercise and a
chance to meet students from across North London.
Lauren Cooper, Marc Sindole, Phillip Du, Adam Vicary, Guillaume Sudre, Lily Pearson
and Louise Reeves all swam fast enough in their races to represent the London Borough
of Barnet in the London Youth Games. Well Done!!
We are really sorry for having to cancel the last 2 after school dance clubs, but with the
Barnet Schools Dance Festival and the orchestra coming in to school , it has been impossible
to run it. The lessons to the sixth form and the after school dance club will continue on
Wednesday, 27th April and we will be looking forward to performing to the school and the
parents in May. If you would like your child to join the after school dance club and are pre-
pared to come and pick them up at 4.45, then please speak to the school office for more de-
tails
