WEEK 1 SUNDAY 1ST– SATURDAY 7TH , MARCH

INTRODUCTION: RESILIENCY: POSITIVE THOUGHTS( Philippians 4:8)

Resiliency is the ability to remain strong and keep going during hard times. God wants us to think about positive things; therefore we should practice positive thinking as commanded in His word everyday.

Our thoughts are powerful and affect our attitudes, actions, and moods, they also reflect the condition of our hearts and changes the way we see a situation. When you experience something difficult, what thoughts fill your mind? Do you worry about everything that could go wrong? Does your heart fill with anger as you think about the people who have wronged you? When you are sad or scared and cannot think of anything positive, think about God. Positive thoughts come from knowing the truth about who God is and how He sees you. Thinking positive thoughts helps us to be resilient in hard times, like a big, strong tree in a storm.

The apostle Paul encouraged all believers to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). One way to take your thoughts captive is to replace negative thoughts with positive ones.

WEEK 2 SUNDAY 8TH - SATURDAY 14TH , MARCH

INTRODUCTION: RESILIENCY: BOUNCING BACK (Genesis 37-45; 50:20)

As a Christian, you do not need to fear suffering. God is with you, and what you go through will produce good fruit if you persevere. Hard times, loss, and temptation are used by God to build hope in our hearts.

When a loved one dies, remember Jesus has not removed His hand from you. When you are tired and do not have the strength to go on, remember that this trial is temporary but His promise to be with you is forever.

Everyone experiences hard things. Joseph was sold into slavery and then thrown into prison for something he did not do but God can help us bounce back with a positive attitude just like He helped Joseph. Our positive attitude comes from knowing that God is with us and that He will be with us when we go through difficult things and can use even the bad things to bring about something good just as He did with Joseph.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..….…………………………………………………………………………………….……………………………………………….

Prayer time: Dear God, help me persevere in tough and difficult situations knowing that You are with me and You will turn my hard situation into something good.

Hard times, loss, and temptation are used by God to build hope in our hearts and so if we persevere we will produce good and lasting fruits.

This week, share with your friends, about Joseph then pray together thanking God for His ever present help even in hard times.

WEEK 3 SUNDAY 15TH - SATURDAY 21ST, MARCH

INTRODUCTION: RESILIENCY: GOD TAKES OUR WORRIES (Psalm 91:1; Matthew6:25-27,34; Phil ippians 4:6-7)

To worry about something means to dwell on negative thoughts and to be anxious or overly concerned about something. All of us worry sometimes. Worrying does not change anything and

it is not helpful. It distracts us and keeps us awake at night, It can even cause physical illness and it serves no positive purpose.

Why then do we worry? We worry because we do not fully recognize that God is on the throne and that He loves us and because we want to have control over our lives but realize that we do not. When we fully believe that God will take care of us, there is no longer anything to worry about.

God cares about even the smallest parts of His creation, such as the birds. He cares even more about you and so you do not need to worry because God is good and you can trust Him with your problems. The more we trust God with every part of our lives, the less we worry because we are part of God’s family and so He promises to give us peace no matter what we go through in life.

Explorer:

1. What are the 4 steps to overcoming worry?

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

2. Do you think you can overcome a situation no matter how difficult it is? Why?

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

3. What happens when we give our worries to God?

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Prayer time: Dear God, please help me to trust in you fully that you will take care of me and that you love me so much to let go of me. Amen

We worry because we do not fully recognize that God is on the throne and that He loves us, we also worry because we want to have control over our lives but then realize that we do not have control. When we fully believe that God will take care of us, there is no longer anything to worry about.

Connection time: Ask your parent/guardian to tell you about a time when they were worried and what caused the worry. Talk about lunch time group discussion when you do it.

During lunch time, share with your friends the bible verses that talk about worry and then allow each of them to share the moments that they have been worried and how they overcame it.

WEEK 4 SUNDAY 22ND– SATURDAY 28TH , MARCH

INTRODUCTION: RESILIENCY: I CAN TRUST GOD (Proverbs 3:5-6; Isaiah 41:10; John 14:27;

Romans 8:28; 1 Peter 5:7)

God sees paths that we do not know about yet. When the Israelites were set free from Egypt, they came to the Red Sea as the angry Egyptian army followed them. With water in front of them and soldiers racing toward them, the Israelites could not see a way out. But God saw what they could not see—He saw a Red Sea path. And with His mighty hand, He made a way for His people. What difficult situations are you facing right now? Be encouraged! Trust every detail to God. He sees a path you cannot see yet. He knows what is best for you. And He will make your path straight.

People may lie to us, neglect us, treat us badly, and betray our trust. When that happens, we feel hurt and upset. But God will never treat us that way. The more we get to know Him, the more we know that He will never break our trust. He is always trustworthy and we learn to trust God more as we get to know Him more. But unlike people, He will always prove to be trustworthy, and He will always love us deeply.
