Before building a Shaklee business, Megan and I worked in college athletics, which we enjoyed, but it involved long hours and tight budgeting. When we decided to start a family, I wanted Megan to be able to stay at home, but that wouldn’t have been possible on our income. I grew up on Shaklee products and I knew what the Compensation Plan could provide. But before 2004, I didn’t have a strong “why,” and Roger Barnett was not yet part of Shaklee to provide the resources we needed to share Shaklee with our prospecting demographics of Generations X, Y, and Z.

During the summer of 2004, we began to see exponential growth. It started when we made a change in the way we saw the business.

I made a conscious effort to study some of our Masters to see how they approached the business. What I found was that they all had some things in common:

• They treat their business like a business

• They never ask someone to do something that they are not willing to do themselves

• They focus on improving the lives of others

• They are action oriented

• They have no fear of rejection

Once we understood these principles, we stopped focusing on measurements and started working hard on the basics—presentations, invitations, and follow-up. This focus has allowed us to develop a duplicat-able system of income-producing activities, training, and accountability—and we’ve seen the results.

Megan and I often joke about our life being like living at DisneyWorld®. It’s not utopia, but how many moms and dads can say they both work from home, have flexibility to take the kids to the park or to lunch or for haircuts when they want to, and earn a size-able income? We have the freedom to work hard on our own terms. And in these times of economic instability, this is becoming a more powerful and relevant story than ever.

During the 2008 Global Conference in New Orleans, something clicked for me when Vivix was introduced. When I learned about the power of this product and its po-tential impact, I was simply amazed. My imagination was filled with all the possibilities.

Since its launch, Vivix has become the most important topic in all my presentations. My group and I also have held many unique Vivix parties. On Halloween we held our Hollow-Vivix party at a haunted mansion, where we gave everyone a small taste of the product. And it never fails—people always ask for more! These parties have resulted in a couple of new Directors for my business.

Harrison Luke knows how to build a team. Since November 2008 he has been building one of the fastest-growing organizations in Shaklee, boasting 10 Business Leaders—many of whom achieved the Director rank within their first two weeks of business—and an over 50% increase in BGV within six months.

“Longtime friends Ray and Susan DeBrincat, Lifetime Master Coordinators, told me about all the changes at Shaklee,” says Harrison. “They showed me what Roger had accomplished with the company since purchasing it. After meeting Roger and seeing his vision, I was convinced it was the right opportunity for me.”

Harrison began with one goal in mind: Presidential Master Coordinator.

Harrison built his team with people who he knew would be interested in the Shaklee Opportunity and created a structure to help them achieve success.

“Once I had my list of people, I developed a system that would help people acclimate quickly to Shaklee products, create excitement, and maximize the Compensation Plan.”

How is it working? In his first four months at Shaklee, Harrison achieved the rank of Executive Coordinator.

Within a week of trying Shaklee products for the first time, I felt the Shaklee Difference. Then I learned I could share those wonderful products with others—and earn money doing it!

As a teacher, I loved the reward of inspiring children. I quickly saw that Shaklee offered me the same reward with the added opportunity of building residual income. I began building my Shaklee business, and in 2007 I quit my job to work Shaklee full time.

My “tipping point” came in 2008 when I decided my team needed to focus on maximizing growth by making the opportunity part of every presentation, leading with the

GOLD Ambassador Program, working in depth, and teaching the Compensation Plan.

We also relied on Shaklee University, conference calls, and incentives such as Power of 10 and Team Up. And as our team has grown and grown, we qualified for Dream 2009 and advanced to Executive Coordinator.

Dr. Shaklee once said, “We succeed by helping others succeed.” It’s a principle that we’ve taken to heart, and our team of Directors and Senior Directors is evidence that it works.

When I came to Shaklee, I had a job I loved, but it was stressful. Then someone introduced me to Shaklee soy protein. I thought it was the best product on earth! Later, when I was invited to a Shaklee event, I saw the potential to help other people, particularly families. The first family I helped was my own. We all saw a difference in our health and vitality —especially my husband. Seeing what Shaklee products could do for us inspired me to share this gift.

Using a model I learned from Lifetime Master Coordinator Carlos Cortez, I began building my business by focusing on helping people create a plan to reach

their goals—cover their mortgage, pay for medical expenses, or just earn some ex-tra money. That translates into a monthly earning target and a plan they can use.

Helping others has helped my Business grow. In one year, I was able to add 10 new Business Leaders to my group and increase my BGV by nearly 500%. But

Before Shaklee, I was an assistant to the president of a large Realty company. A typical day began at 7 a.m. and ended at 7 p.m. There were days when my son and daughter were asleep when I left and in bed before I returned. That was my “enough!” moment.

I quit my job to go full time in Shaklee. Soon, I was earning incentives and leadership trips to Toronto, Dallas, and San Diego. But even though I was experiencing success and finding time to raise my children, own my own home, and volunteer with organizations that mattered to me, I still didn’t see that I could share what I had with others.

A life change helped me understand I could be a leader and develop other leaders. Within six months I broke out my second First Level, and the success continued. In just six months I went from having one Business Leader to six!

Looking back, I see that perception is everything. My advice to others who want to reach Executive Coordinator is to

believe it’s possible to achieve your goals. When you have confidence in your ability to build this business, you can pass that confidence to your team members.

In 1989, Marilu Serrano was working as a bank teller when a friend told her about Shaklee. Within six months of starting a Shaklee business, Marilu’s Shaklee income was twice what she earned at the bank, and she made the decision to do the business full time.

Her next goal was to grow her business without investing a lot more time because the time she spent with her sons was precious. “I knew they wouldn’t be young forever,” says Marilu. “I wanted to spend more time with them, and that meant working smarter.”
