TOEIC - Test of English for International Communication

TOEIC is a standardized test that measures your listening and reading skills. Unlike other tests, the TOEIC evaluates your ability to function in the business world rather than in an academic setting. The test consists of 200 multiple-choice questions. Some students take the TOEIC because they want to improve their English. Other students take the TOEIC because they want to apply for a job that requires a TOEIC score.

The TOEIC preparation course at Shafston is specifically for students wishing to maximize their TOEIC score.

Students will be taught all the strategies and be able to take the TOEIC Exam before completion of the TOEIC program. Shafston is an accredited TOEIC exam center, so students studying at Shafston can enjoy the full benefits of taking the test on campus.

There are two sections to the TOEIC exam: Listening Comprehension and Reading. The course will teach students specific strategies, which will enable students to perform well in the exam.

The course is a mixture of theme and form based. The thematic component of the course will assist the learners in using business English and see how the language is used. It will also encourage the use of business vocabulary, which will assist many of the tasks asked of them in the test.

The themes included in the course cover a number of business related areas. These include the economy, management, company structure, recruitment, production, products, marketing, advertising, promotional tools, accounting and financial statements, stocks and shares, market structure and competition, takeovers and mergers, the business cycle and International Trade.

Students will learn how to analyse photos, answer choices, question types, and language functions. In addition, students can use these for a variety of communicative activities
