Estimate the amount required for each of the 5 food groups to ensure your diet is balanced.

Create a food plate to demonstrate each group.

WHAT IS A BALANCED DIET?

In pairs write down what you consider to be a healthy balanced diet.

BALANCED DIET Eating a balanced diet means that we eat the correct quantity and proportion of nutrients to meet the body’s requirements to work efficiently and to be healthy. Watch the following video clip and complete the hand-out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YimuIdEZSNY

WHAT MAKES A DIET BALANCED? There are five particular food groups you should be eating to ensure your diet is balanced, does anyone think they remember what they are? Write what they are in your notes.
