Service container

Ensure instant availability of spare parts at your next shutdown with a customized service kit, containing a predetermined selection of key spare parts and replacement devices, delivered to site before a maintenance shutdown or turnaround. The palletized delivery maximizes spare part availability for a fixed service fee during shutdowns, and only used parts are invoiced after returning the service container to Metso.

The service container is a very cost-effective way to manage temporary spare part needs during project start-up or shutdown. It can reduce the cost of on-site storage and maintenance of seldom-needed shutdown spares. For increased efficiency, spare parts are marked with the customer’s tag numbers to quickly and easily identify required items.

Benefits• Confidence that the correct parts are

on site during the shutdown• Minimizes the risk of shutdown delays

or rescheduling• No delivery time issues• Reduces costly emergency purchases• Smooth workshop operation as spare

parts are easily identified with tag marking

• No obligation to purchase parts that are not used

• Option to return or purchase unused parts

• No costs tied to unused parts• Optimizes maintenance inventory

costs

Based on the shutdown device list, a Metso specialist will assess what spares could be required during the shutdown. Recommended spare part are identified for individual tag numbers based on

device condition information provided by the customer or as part of Metso’s condition analysis.

The service container package includes:• Analysis of the installed equipment

base information• Spare parts recommendation for

individual tags• Tag marking of spare parts and

packing according to customer requirements

• Container delivery and review of the content at site together with the customer

• Review of consumed spare parts at site together with the customer

• Return of unused parts to Metso

Shutdown and start-up supervision

Pre-screen shutdown listOne of the biggest challenges in shutdown planning is determining what devices will be tuned, repaired or upgraded, which devices can be handled during normal running and ensuring that key devices only accessible during the shutdown are not ignored.

Installed base auditTo develop an accurate baseline for shutdown planning, a Metso technician collects and confirms each device type on site. External condition of devices is checked by visual inspection.

Condition analysisThe condition of selected devices is analyzed before the shutdown, using a combination of process data analysis, diagnostic information of smart devices, visual inspection and appropriate device testing. Our sophisticated software and testing tools are capable of revealing

underperforming equipment as well as devices with hidden and developing problems in advance of actual failure.

Service containerAs potentially faulty devices are identified in advance, the spare part order can be focused to the reduced list of devices being maintained. The Metso service container offers instant availability at site to recommended spare parts, reducing the risk of delays and unnecessary costs.

RepairsNecessary maintenance under Metso’s supervision is concentrated on identified devices requiring servicing or repair. This allows subcontractors, labor and schedules to be optimized, bringing down costs and reducing the risk of unpleasant surprises. Where needed, Metso carries out quality repairs and upgrades to ensure maximized lifetime and availability of the equipment.

Shutdown and start-up supervisionDuring the shutdown and/or start-up, a Metso technician participates as start-up supervisor offering device expertise and fast troubleshooting help in order to realize a safe and flawless process operation.

Follow-upThe solution performance is reviewed after the shutdown when the final shutdown list is compared to findings detected during maintenance actions and key performance indexes are reviewed.
