You might think that your problems are unique, or that no one else cares about your creative solution to something that’s been bothering you. One benefit of chamber membership is that we make it possible for you to meet other people who are in the same proverbial boat. We let you know about the time and place, and all you have to do is make the time. Chamber Coffees and FAN Clubs are generally held once a month, and are mostly social gatherings where people have a chance to introduce themselves and tell others about their work. e project- oriented committee meetings like the Golf Tournament or Chamberfest Committees also bring people together for a few meetings prior to events, while groups like the MainStreet Futures committee and the Arts and Cultural District steering committee meet monthly on longer-term, big picture items. e committee meetings are by no means as dull and boring as the name would indicate - the committees are made up of people who, like you, just want to get the job done. And when we just need a little bit more information on complicated topics, we’ll get together for a Discovery Dialog. In recent months we’ve had Discovery Dialogs around the topics of Los Alamos National Laboratory’s environmental permit and concerning the federal health care legislation that goes into effect this fall. We’re listening - many of the items we have advocated for have come out of the conversations people have had at those informal get-togethers. Whether we’re talking to the lab about contract or procurement issues, to the Association of Commerce and Industry (the chamber of chambers in New Mexico) about pending legislation that affects businesses or to the County about street design or retail expansion, we need to hear from you. Senator Tom Udall will join us at our Chamber Coffee at 10:30 a.m. on September 7th at Fuller Lodge. Senator Udall and his staff will be available from 10:30 to 11 a.m. to meet and greet the Los Alamos business community.
