I can remember the day in early October 2007 that I decided to contact the Universal Life Church and

apply for a congregation permit. I had just spent, to no avail, two years searching for a community, a spiritual home, where I could meet and befriend people who, like me, wanted to find some spiritual meaning to their life outside the traditional places that offered not enough answers. Although I was born and somewhat raised United Methodist (we went to church when my grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. H.L. Hewitt came for a visit), traditional religions had far too much dogma, authority and undisputable doctrine for my personal taste. Although I appreciated the warm loving community that could be found in churches (and other such similar houses of worship), I could not, in good conscious, subscribe to the ideals presented and I had too much integrity to simply attend and “pretend” in order to have a place to go. So, necessity being the mother of invention, I decided to create one. A few days later, while sitting at my desk pondering what it would be like to create something like that, it occurred

to me I needed a name. Almost immediately “Temple of Light” flashed in my mind. Knowing by now when information comes that quickly and succinctly it is divinely guided. I questioned it not and there it began. I immediately created a website from a predesigned template and ordered an appliqué for the rear window of my car (which is still there although looking a bit tattered). A friend of mine, who had been out of town for a while, arrived home. After we had coffee together she walked me to my car, saw the sign and declared “You are out of the closet now!” Today, almost five years later, we are moving into our third physical location (okay fourth if you count my garage office) in the beautiful Irvine Spectrum at 11 Goddard. Words cannot describe how peaceful and fulfilled I feel stepping into what I and all the friends and members of our community have created with our hearts, imagination and purposeful intent. I could not have imagined five years ago the journey I was about to take building the Temple. >> continued on page 6

continued from page 5 >> My husband and I personally funded the bulk of the founding needs and bless his heart (thank you my dear soul mate) for saying “ y e s ” every time more was needed to build the d r e a m . For the first few years I will not deny it was a struggle personally, professionally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. My stress levels went up and down like a yoyo; I cried many times and wondered what on earth I had gotten myself into. A friend of mine who I like to say is very good at putting her personal self-care above everything else witnessed my struggles and kept asking me why I was doing this. My answer was, “….just gotta.” I still don’t have any other answer to that question; I just know it’s my purpose and I cannot imagine doing anything else. Sometimes I would forget all of the people around me helping to create it and would feel very much alone in the process. One of our members recently sent the following passage to me when she heard me account for some of my past feelings.

“I cannot create the Temple alone. The Temple is not an edifice constructed of stone or glass, made by human hands like a church or a mosque. This is a moveable Temple, exists between worlds, transparent, fragile and fleeting. It is created with love and magic out of the dreams and visions of men and women with open hearts.We come together and hold the intention to create it, for a moment, for an hour, for a day and it suddenly appears. When we let it go again, it vanishes back into the mists of time. It is ever new and never the same. It exists for us because we join together and say “YES”.”-- Maggie Tapert

A Temple is a gathering place and we are beings of light who

carry that light in our heart space. We are each individually

a Temple of Light.

As we move into our new location on the first of September these words have given

me so much meaning and introspection. For you see, the Temple of Light is not just a place at 11 Goddard, Irvine, it is in our hearts. A Temple is a gathering place and we are beings of light who carry that light in our heart

space. We are each individually a Temple of Light. I never needed to create it as a building; I only ever needed to know it is here with me all the time and I had only to allow it to be expressed outside of myself. The wisdom of the heart far exceeds the mind. I know that now.

According to Albert Einstein, “People who believe in physics know that the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.” Metaphysicians also understand everything is composed of interwoven wavelengths and what we think, feel, say and do is recorded in a vibrational library often called the Akashic Records. As Catherine Morris wrote in Radiance (July/August 2012), the Akashic Records are a field of energy extending far beyond what humans perceive with our five senses. Harry Reed, director of the Edgar Cayce Institute for Intuitive Studies, agrees and states, “If there is any one truth from the legacy of the Cayce readings, it would be there is a spiritual dimension to humans, something beyond time and space.” I believe the Records are an archive of our Souls’ collective journeys through all lifetimes, i.e. humanity’s spiritual body encompassing all physical, mental and emotional energy fields. However, humans are not the only

Earth-beings attuned to our Collective Consciousness. Animals, plants, trees, rocks, crystals, buildings and places – and even years – also vibrate with it.

While individual, group and global activities that constantly reshape and redirect energy enable the Records to evolve, so do pivotal dates and events – especially those with global impact like 01/01/2000 (aka Y2K), 9/11/2001 and 12/21/2012. As an Akashic Practitioner, I not only read the Akashic Records of humans, but also those of animals, buildings and even years with enlightening results. The Records of a year tend to reflect its themes and potential direction. During October 2011, I accessed the Year 2012’s Records to inquire about the shifts being attributed to the Mayan Calendar, plus the pivotal date of 12/21/12. I transcribed their response for my chapter in the anthology “2012: Creating Your Own Shift” (Shift Awareness Books), which is partially included below.

At their request, I’ve continued opening 2012’s Records at the Equinoxes and Solstices, which are quarterly energetic balance points leading to Winter Solstice 12/21/12. Following is some of what they’ve shared so far: “12/21/2012 is connected to the turning of the Mayan calendar to focus humanity’s consciousness on the current requirements of evolution. It is not a

day to be feared or revered. This is similar to how the events of 09/11/2001 centralized attention on Earth for the common good. “What is most critical to 2012 is already stirring within every human, animal, tree and rock: a quickening of the frequency that binds everything together and always will. Everything vibrates – the stars, Earth, air, oceans, people and even time. As the Akashic Records of 2012, we hold the collective vibrations of all of the above. The subtle and amplified frequency shifts occurring between today and that date will shape what occurs. “Creating a new equilibrium and maintaining balance between the natural world and the new, yet necessary, global connectivity via electronic pathways and airborne wavelengths is essential to prevent the Earth and humanity from imploding. Therefore, it is vital for humans to raise their own vibrations and harmonize this in physical form. By tuning into the collective energy of the Records and feeding them with positive light and love, you will also receive more light and love directly – and continually. “Humans will begin living from the perspective of Soul by realizing there is more to life than what is experienced in their lifetime. continued from page 9 >> creation by making everyone seed planters and nurturers for future generations. “This past January 2012’s Records reported: “With more than seven billion people on Earth, humanity is like a pearl becoming too large energetically to remain in its oyster. The original grain of sand has rubbed against the inner shell long enough to generate a strong and iridescent gem. This pearl is now being influenced to see itself more as cohesive and beautiful. When it does, the sense of separation between the metaphoric grain of sand, the shell and the pearl will dissipate.” My Akashic students and I have also accessed 2012’s Records as a group. Following are some of the insights we’ve received: “We and the world are mirrors of each other – we are going through our own internal shifts.” “We have always had ups and downs. People’s fear can influence how things look and feel. We can shape the face of how things look.” “We’re in the shift of a cycle. It’s an entire year of transition. It’s the late 60’s on steroids, but this time happening in a more concerted, rational and compassionate way.”

“2012 is a dark room lit up from inside by a bright flame. As the heat and light of the flame expands, the darkness disappears.” I wish you an enlightening, uplifting and evolving 2012 as we all shape what’s to come!

In my last corporate job, I had two managers. One was Magnetic and the other was Dynamic. Everyone, including me liked to talk to and hang out with the Magnetic person. One day he seemed bummed-out

and I asked him why. He said he wished he was more ambitious, more willing to fight for his position and ideas and was depressed because he thought he didn’t try hard enough at anything in his life. However, he had a great job, wife and two children he left work “early” to see each night (it was an unwritten rule managers were expected to stay after hours). My other manager, the Dynamic person, was always too busy to chit chat, wanted to find his true love, get married and have children, but he was always at work long after everyone else, including other managers, had gone home. He worked weekends and frequently traveled for work. He rarely took vacations and came in when he was sick. It was obvious to everyone he loved his job and that work WAS his true love. However, he felt there was something wrong with him because he was still single in his forties. His dream was to be a CEO of a big, successful company someday. Together they made a great team. Unfortunately, neither felt okay being who they were, nor did they realize the value of knowing their birth chart.

Difficulty Walking and Misdiagnosed”I previously had never seen a chiropractor. I rode a bicycle daily and traveled the world with a backpack. I began to feel old and felt my health deteriorating. During the last years of the Cold War, I had a front row seat as a senior systems designer in the defense industry to one of the most frightening times in the history of the world and the thinking

that led to it. During the 44 years of the most potentially lethal, yet undeclared, war in history, the super powers of the United States and the former Soviet Union did something that seems unthinkable to any rationally-minded person today. They spent time, energy, and human resources to develop and stockpile somewhere in the neighborhood of 65,000 nuclear weapons — a combined arsenal with the power to microwave the Earth and everything on it many times over. There is a common thread that links the rationale that led to the cold war and many of the crises that face us today. It stems from a way of thinking that has dominated much of the modern world since the beginning of the scientific era about 300 years ago. It is based in false scientific assumptions that suggest we are somehow separate from the Earth, separate from one another and nature that gives us life is based upon violent competition and survival of the strongest. Fortunately, new discoveries have revealed each of these assumptions is false. Unfortunately, however, there is a reluctance to reflect such new discoveries in mainstream science, mainstream media, traditional classrooms and conventional textbooks. In other words, we are still teaching our young people the false assumptions of an obsolete way of thinking based in struggle, competition and war.

Although we no longer face the nuclear threat that we did in the 1980s, the thinking that made the wars and suffering of the 20th Century and the crises of the 21st Century possible is still in place. This fact is vital to us today for one simple reason: Today’s best minds clearly say we are facing the greatest number and magnitude of crises in recorded history, and that if left unresolved, each crisis threatens our existence!

OUR CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER The journal Scientific American released a special edition (vol. 293, no. 3, September 2005) to inform the world of the current critical situation. The key is that the way we address the crises of our time is based in the way we think of the world and ourselves. Maybe it is no coincidence that today, after three centuries of using the scientific method to answer the most basic questions about ourselves, the world faces the greatest crises of war, suffering and disease in recorded history! Our old ways of thinking—which include believing in the need for competition, our separation from nature and the Darwinian tenet “let the strongest live and the weakest die” have brought us to the brink of disaster. Clearly, the thinking that led to the war and suffering of the 20th century, including the Cold War, is not the thinking upon which we want the delicate choices of our survival based!THE QUESTION… How can we possibly know what to choose—what policies to create, what laws to pass, how to build sustainable economies and bridge the issues that are tearing at the fabric of our relationships and society—until we have answered the single question at the very core of our existence. The question is: Who are we? As individuals, families, nations and a combined human civilization our answer to this deceptively simple question creates the lens through which we see ourselves, our world and make the choices of our lives, future and survival. When we embrace the discoveries of modern science—the truths of our past on Earth, our planet’s cycles of change and the role these play in our lives—then we will understand what we are really up against, what our options are and what choices are available.THE HOPE In recent years, an explosion of new discoveries throughout the sciences has left little doubt that many long-standing views about life, our world and our bodies have to change. The reason is simple: The ideas are wrong. In light of the new evidence regarding near–ice age civilizations, the false assumptions of human evolution, the origin and role of war in our past and the undue emphasis on competition today, we must rethink the basic scientific beliefs that lie at the core of the decisions we make and how we live. This is from where the new deep truths of science come.DEEP TRUTHS

During a conversation with Albert Einstein, Nobel Prize–winning physicist Niels Bohr once shared his insight into our deep, mysterious relationship regarding what we think of as “truth.” In clear and eloquent terms he stated “It is the hallmark of any deep truth that its negation is also a deep truth.” In other words, what Bohr called the “negation” of old scientific assumptions (discoveries that no longer make sense in the presence of new evidence) makes the opposite of those assumptions a deep truth. In addition, this

is where the news of recent scientific discoveries becomes a proverbial double-edged sword. The good news is that the new information provides an updated and presumably more correct way of thinking about things. The downside is that entire paradigms have been built upon false assumptions. Everything from the curricula approved by school boards and taught in our classrooms; to the careers of teachers, authors and academics whose lives have been devoted to teaching the paradigms—along with political decisions and policies that have been made into law in the highest courts of the land—is based upon what is accepted as “true” in our culture. We may well discover that our beliefs about global warming, the role of competition in global economies, when we choose to save or take a life and the reasons for war, for example, fall into this category of deep truth. As we face the greatest number and magnitude of crises in recorded history, the facts revealed by six areas of discovery

radically change the way we have been led to think about our world and ourselves in the past. The earth is purging and adjusting to new relationships with the galactic alignments predicted for generations. Twelve years ago, Suandra and Joseph created their own Y2K experience by relocating the shop from the traditional retail area of Costa Mesa and moving up Newport Boulevard toward the fairgrounds to SeaCoast Village, a complex where Visions & Dreams is the only retail entity. Their focus was shifting from a retail store to a center with space for programs and an expanded staff of intuitive readers. At this location, trees and grass outside the windows offer a lighter feel to the already uplifting ambiance of the shop. As we move through current times, astrological patterns offer a perspective or understanding of the energies influencing all of life. Our individual charts can provide insight into personal processes and opportunities. Upon studying the chart for Visions & Dreams, it became apparent that it was time for a renewed expression, in fact, an entirely new approach. Over the last few months, the shop has morphed into its next expression and a new level of service. Old doors were closed and new doors opened. The store is now physically located in the space that was our classroom, Unit 3. There are new wood-like floors and golden walls filled with items that will continue to be available as support to our patrons. Our focus is narrowing and inspired by the desire to support the awakening of the true self and the aligning with the refined dimensional energies now present. The original store space has transformed into the NOW, a community-gathering place and much grander event room. The vaulted ceilings and wood floors are perfect for events, such as yoga classes, concerts, lectures, meditations and discussion groups to start. The walls are perfect for displaying the artistic expressions from those in our community. There are plans for a large screen TV to allow the community to gather and be part of live streaming global events. This new facility holds upwards of 100 people and more than a dozen massage tables. Vastu Shastra is the architectural science of building in harmony with nature and is seven to ten thousand years old. Vastu comes from a body of knowledge called the Vedas written by visionaries who spent their lives in contemplation. The teachings of Vastu address how our environments, where we live and work especially, influence our daily lives by supporting or hindering our health, happiness, abundance, relationships and Spiritual growth. For years, my husband, Michael, and I have been practitioners of this sacred science. Vastu explains how in nature, all five elements (earth, water, fire, air and space) are in perfect balance, but when a building is constructed, that balance is disrupted and, in the process, can have enormous impact on our bodies, minds, and spirits. Through this ancient architectural science, we can learn how to create sacred space in any environment by balancing the five elements, thus enhancing our connection to the Divine Spirit that resides within us all. The science of Vastu links our bodies, the microcosm and the universe, the macrocosm, together with the five elements. Our bodies are composed of these elements, as is everything in the material world. Like all things in nature, our bodies occupy space, the same space that created the universe. This space holds within it the silent consciousness of all possibility and it is from this place of Divine silence that we create our reality. When we disrupt the space element in our home

or office, we experience obstacles to our success. When it is in balance, we more easily experience our limitless potential. The same air that fills our lungs surrounds the earth in a blanket of protection and nurtures every living thing with life force energy (known as prana in Sanskrit). Without air, all life would perish. For this reason, when the air element is out of balance in our environment, we begin to experience disharmony in all relationships, including our relationship or connection to Spirit. When the air element returns to a state of balance, relationships flourish. Fire, in the form of heat, brings warmth and stimulation to systems within the body. Without the light of the sun, plants, animals and other forms of life would not thrive on this planet. When the fire element is disturbed in our living or workspace, we experience apathy and a lack of forward motion. When this element is stable,

enthusiasm and gratitude abound in our lives. The difference feels like living in darkness or living within the light. Our bodies are composed of 80 percent water that creates vitality and harmony through our blood, bodily secretions and every cell in the body. When the water element is blocked, we feel disconnected to the Divine; it is as if we are alone in the world. Conversely, when the water element is in proper proportion, our lives flow effortlessly. Earth gives our bodies shape through bones, tissues, muscles, skin and hair. Without balance in the earth element, we experience disruption in our ability to be grounded and capable in our lives. When this element is balanced, however, we feel supported by Spirit in all our endeavors. Our well-being is intimately linked to the five elements (space, air, fire, water and earth) and so readily reflects balance or imbalance that the teachings of Vastu describe one’s life as a blueprint of the universe, as seen through the five elements. At a basic level, everything in the universe is energy, vibration and interconnected in a continuous, shifting balancing act whose goal is ideal harmony. There is harmony between earth and water, between the sun (fire) and the moon (air), between the stars and planets. The energy of all things is connected and moving in a precise universal dance. Even natural calamities, such as earthquakes, excessive rains and flooding, hurricanes and tornados are simply nature’s attempt to make adjustments in its ability to restore universal harmony. When a home or office is built, the universal balance gets disrupted and people, once they take up residence, experience a litany of common complaints. In our work, we have seen how people’s lives are affected adversely by where they live or work, the importance of living in harmony with the natural forces of nature to allow the blessings of the universe to benefit us is still an alien concept, especially in the West. It appears through our advancement in science and technology, we have moved farther away from understanding how the elements affect our lives. Throughout the world, we use various means of controlling the environment without paying attention to the ramification of our actions. Nothing in our world happens in isolation: we are interconnected through Spirit and the elements. As the human race has transitioned from living and working in natural environments to spending most of our time in manmade structures, we have distanced our sensitivity and connection to the natural world. Over time, we have created congested, artificial environments filled with synthetics. These have been designed to add ease and comfort, but unfortunately, despite expanding methods of construction and widespread technological advances, we have only recently begun to consider the impact of these physical structures on the body, mind and emotions. Many people struggle with allergic reactions to

building materials and artificial lighting that severely limits their productivity and emotional well-being. A building can be friendly or unfriendly to its inhabitants, depending on how it is constructed and maintained. Just as a chiropractor assists people by aligning their physical anatomy, Vastu has the power to create balance in our life by aligning our home or office environment – the “body that surrounds our body.” Vastu can support our connection to the Divine by energetically aligning our environment to the positive forces naturally inherent in the universe. For this reason, it helps to understand how the directions are associated with the five elements and to achieve balance between them to enhance our lives. The northeast area of your residence is associated with the water element. It is the source of positive magnetic energy from the north and positive solar energy from the east. Ideally, our residence needs to be open to the northeast to receive this positive energy. The northeast influences our Spiritual growth and the ability to give and serve humanity. In a home designed according to Vastu, the northeast is good area for entrances, meditation rooms, altars, and fountains. If this area has proper Vastu, knowledge of the self will come with more ease. If there is a kitchen, toilet, missing corner, clutter, heating system, or blockage in the northeast, such as a large tree or house, Spiritual progress will be slowed. This direction influences the strength of our relationship to the Divine. Toilets and guest bedrooms work well in the northwest. Neurological research has shown that the firing patterns of neurons in the thalamus function differently depending on which direction one is facing. Our mind, therefore, is influenced by the interaction between the magnetic field and our brain cells. Placing our bodies and environments in alignment with the magnetic axis enables us to think and act more in tune with the forces of nature. Our lives then feel as through we are swimming with the stream as opposed to swimming against it. These studies have shown that when we meditate facing the east in the morning, as opposed to all other directions, we are able to enter deeper states of meditation and experience greater stress reduction. We achieve a more restful state in this direction (measurable by lowered metabolism and breath rate), which affectively supports our health and Spiritual growth. Sleeping with our head to the south or east also directly aligns us with the Divine forces of nature. Sadly, most modern architecture is not designed in alignment with natural forces: the sun, wind, water, the climate and planets are ignored during planning and construction. Discoveries like the Greek Antikythera computer (1500 years before precision geared devices are invented), Baghdad

batteries (2000 years before Volta “invented” the battery) or dental and brain surgery artifacts found in ancient Pakistan (8000 years ago) appear “anomalous” within today’s paradigm of history. However, they are not unexpected according to the ancient cyclical view. Giorgio de Santillana, former MIT professor of the history of science, states many ancient cultures believed consciousness and history were not linear but cyclical; they would rise and fall over time. In Hamlet’s Mill, Giorgio and Hertha von Dechend wrote the myth and folklore of over 30 ancient cultures globally spoke of a vast cycle of time with alternating Dark and Golden Ages that move with the equinox precession. Plato called this “the Great Year.” The idea of a great cycle timed by the slow precession of the equinox was common to cultures before Christianity. We were taught this is a fairytale; there was no Golden Age. However, new astronomical and archaeological evidence suggests the cycle may have a factual basis. Understanding the cycle might provide insight into where society is headed now and why consciousness may be expanding at an exponential rate. Understanding the cause of precession is key to understanding the cycle. The standard theory of precession says it is the Moon’s gravity acting upon Earth that causes Earth’s changing orientation to inertial space, a.k.a. the “precession of the equinox.” However, ancient sources say the observable of an equinox slowly moving (precessing) through the Zodiac constellations is due to the solar system movement through space (changing our viewpoint from Earth). At the Binary Research Institute, we modeled a moving solar system that better produce the precession observable and resolves a number of solar system anomalies.

A moving solar system might provide a reason for the Great Year with alternating Dark and Golden Ages. If the solar system carrying Earth moves in a huge orbit, subjecting the Earth to the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum of another star or EM source, this would affect our magnetosphere, ionosphere and life in a pattern commensurate with that orbit. Just as Earth’s smaller diurnal, annual motions produce day and night cycles and seasons (due to Earth’s position to the Sun’s EM spectrum), the larger celestial motion might produce a cycle affecting life and consciousness on a grand scale. The hypothesis for how consciousness would be affected in such a celestial cycle builds on the work of Dr. Valerie Hunt, former UCLA professor of physiology. In many studies, she found consciousness is affected by immersion in EM fields. Consequently, the concept behind the Great Year, consistent with myth and folklore, is based on the Sun’s motion through space, subjecting Earth to waxing and waning stellar fields (stars are EM spectrum generators), resulting in the legendary rise and fall of the ages over time. continued from page 31 >> might induce Earth’s cyclical changes. We use this as a guide to understand where we have been in terms of consciousness and ancient civilizations and where we are going. As Graham Hancock stated, this “new – or ancient – approach to the greatest problems of human history” could be “key to the mystery of the ages.” Current history theories ignore myth and folklore and do not consider macro external influences on consciousness. Modern history theory states consciousness or history moves in a linear pattern from primitive to modern with few exceptions. Some tenets include: • Mankind evolved from Africa • People were hunter-gatherers until about 5000 years

ago • Tribes first banded together for protection from

warring parties• Written communication must precede large

engineered structures or populous civilizations The problem with this widely accepted paradigm is it is inconsistent with the evolving interpretation of recently discovered ancient cultures and anomalous artifacts. In the last hundred years, major discoveries were made in Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley, the Asian

plains, South America and other regions that break history theory rules and push back the time of advanced human development. Ancient man was more proficient and civilized 5000 years ago than during the Dark Ages. In Caral, an ancient complex on Peru’s west coast, six pyramids were carbon dated at 4700 years old, a date contemporaneous with Egyptian pyramids and rivaling when the first structures were found in Mesopotamia, the “Cradle of Civilization.” However, Caral is an ocean away from the “Cradle.” We find no evidence of writing or weaponry, two of the “necessities of civilization.” However, we do find beautiful musical instruments, astronomically aligned structures and evidence of commerce with distant lands. Gobekli Tepe in Turkey presents a greater challenge to current historical accounts. Dating back 11,500 years, it contains dramatic architecture, including huge carved pillars. To find something so complex long before we supposedly invented pottery is an archaeological enigma. This defies the standard historical paradigm. What is stranger is many civilizations declined en mass. In ancient Mesopotamia, Pakistan, Jiroft, Iran and adjacent lands, knowledge of astronomy, geometry, advanced building techniques, sophisticated plumbing and water systems, incredible art, dyes and fabrics, surgery, medicine and other refinements of civilization

arose from nowhere yet were lost over the next few thousand years. By the Dark Ages, these civilizations turned to dust or nomadic ways of life. Near the depths of the downturn, ruins and little else was found. Throughout Europe where larger populations remained, poverty and disease were rampant. The ability to read, write or duplicate any earlier engineering or scientific feats disappeared. What happened? While records of this period are spotty, archeological evidence indicates consciousness, reflected as human ingenuity and capability, diminished. We lost the ability to do things we used to do. Ironically, many ancient cultures predicted this. The world’s foremost Assyrianologist, Stefan Maul, shed light on this phenomenon in his Stanford Presidential Lecture stating the Akkadians knew they lived in a declining era. They revered and tried to hang onto the past while lamenting and predicting the Dark Ages. His etymological studies of cuneiform tablets show ancient words for the “past” have become our words for the “future,” whereas their words for the “future” have become our words for the “past.” It is as if mankind orients his motion through time depending on whether he is in an ascending or descending age. This principal of waxing and waning periods of time is depicted in ancient Mithraic temples bas-reliefs. The famed Tauroctany (bull slaying scene) is surrounded by two boys, Cautes and Cautopetes. One holds a torch up on one side of the zodiac indicating a time of light;

the other holds a torch down on the other side indicating a time of darkness. As the accompanying chart shows, these periods correspond with the Vedic description of when the Earth goes through periods of rising and falling consciousness. Jarred Diamond, well-known historian anthropologist and author of Guns, Germs and Steel, states it is local geographic and environmental advantages on Earth that determine which human groups succeed or fail. Those with steel, guns and bad germs win. While this helps explain regional differences of the last few thousand years, it does not address macro trends affecting all cultures (including China and the Americas) as they slipped into the last Dark Age. The cyclical Great Year model overlays and augments Diamond’s observations giving a reason for the downturn. It suggests man’s geography and environment determines his success as well as the geography and environment of Earth in space that affects mankind. Just as small celestial motions affect life over the short term (causing day, night and seasons), large celestial motions affect us over the long term, resulting in the Great Year’s rising and falling ages. Understanding consciousness may rise and fall with the heavens’ motions gives meaning to ancient myth and folklore and puts anomalous artifacts into an historical context that makes sense. It may be why ancient cultures were fascinated with stars and provides a workable paradigm to understand history and help identify forces that propelled the Renaissance and is accelerating consciousness today. The Greek historian Hesiod wrote of the last Golden Age’s wonderful nature when “peace and plenty” abounded. Hopi myths report cities on the bottom of the sea. Ancient peoples broke the great cycle into an ascending and descending phase, each with four periods. For example, the Vedic (Hindu) culture states when the

Autumnal Equinox moves from Virgo to Aires, we go through the ascending Kali, Dwapara, Treta and Satya Yugas (the golden era) before slowly declining in reverse order as the equinox completes its journey. The Greeks and other early Mediterranean civilizations labeled

them the Iron, Bronze, Silver and Golden Ages. Distant cultures, such as the Maya or Hopi, used other names such as “worlds” or “Suns” and identified specific epochs. A modern proponent of the cyclical system was Swami Sri Yukteswar, the Sanskrit Sage and author of The Holy Science (1894). He taught that the position of our solar system relative to another star indicates we are in recent transition from the lowest material age, the

Kali Yuga, into the electrical or atomic age, the Dwapara Yuga. In this period, we see the world as more transparent as we move from self-awareness as a physical body in a physical universe to an awareness we are something more, living in a universe filled with subtle forces and energies. The discoveries of the laws of gravity, electricity and magnetism in the last

few hundred years give this credence – and the trend is accelerating. In the last century, it was discovered physical matter is not solid. It is made of molecules that are made of atoms, which are 99.9% empty space. The bit of matter existing in the proton >> continued on page 34

continued from page 33 >> and neutron is thought to be vibrating energy, according to the latest String Theory. Reality is looking more ethereal just as the Vedas predict. Ages beyond the present are difficult to grasp because our present consciousness cannot behold a greater consciousness anymore than a farmer of the last century could understand how we communicate with electrons through wireless space. So we extrapolate the

past material view of things when envisioning the future, i.e. more gadgets and technology. However, Oriental teachings about cycles indicate this is a passing phase and the real trend is towards a god-like state where the physical is but a manifestation of something from the netherworld. And so it seems when we read Greek mythology or Vedic scripture.

The Silver Age or Treta Yuga, the third age (from the bottom) is the Greek “age of the demigods,” or to Indian yogis, the age of divine magnetism and the mind. While this is a difficult concept to grasp consider the story of Babel. Before Babel (pre-3100 B.C. in the last descending Treta Yuga), humanity spoke with one tongue and communed freely with nature. The Old Testament states mankind began to build “towers” and then languages were “confused.” People could no longer understand one another (Genisis 11:1-9). In the standard theory of history this story makes no sense; however, in the cyclical model it has great meaning. It would have occurred around the building of ancient Mesopotamia’s first towers, between 3000 B.C. and 3500 B.C. This is around the time (3100 B.C.) when, according to Sri Yukteswar, the world declined from the descending Treta Yuga into the descending Dwapara Yuga, a time when clairvoyance and telepathy were lost (see Chart). We learn from Paramahansa Yogananda, another proponent of the yuga cycle and author of Autobiography of a Yogi, this time will come again in 4100 A.D. when we pass from the ascending Dwapara into the ascending Treta Yuga. He states there will once again be a “common knowledge of telepathy and clairvoyance” when we will better understand the meaning of ancient myths. The Treta Yuga was the age of levitation, telepathy, a time of shaman and wizards, when tremendous physic and mental abilities were common, an “age of demigods.” There are stories about mythical powers of saints and sages. Now seen as rare, most people do not realize we might have this same latent ability in a higher state of consciousness. This is exactly what the ancients said. Christ quoted the far more ancient scriptures of the Old Testament when, in the depths of the last Dark Age he said; “Is it not written that ye are gods.” He embodied this consciousness when saying, “These things that I do ye

shall do also.” The final stage is the Golden Age (Satya Yuga), considered Earth’s highest time. If the Treta or Silver Age is inconceivable, then the Golden Age sounds like a myth or dream. The Greeks called

it the “age of the gods.” The Vedas and ancient Egyptian myths and folklore hint this was when gods walked the Earth and mankind lived in perfect harmony with nature and the heavens. There remains little evidence; however, we find that every ancient megalithic construction prior to the year 1500 B.C. was oriented towards astronomical or cardinal points. Reconnective Healing is a new level of healing that, according to researchers and scientists, may very well be here on the planet for the first time. Of course, they are the last people

you would expect to make such a bold statement – and so I asked, “How can you say something this strongly?” They said, “It really makes perfect sense if you just understand two basic concepts.” Concept One is that we are four-dimensional beings. We exist in a four-dimensional world of height, width, depth and time and in Quantum Physics today they often illustrate that world as a bubble. They tell us to imagine that the wall, or the cell of the bubble, the outside of the bubble, is comprised of height, width, depth and time, and everything inside that bubble is

energy. This has been our four-dimensional existence from the beginning. The healing techniques we have have had – Reiki, Johrei, Jin Shin and QiGong, for instance – have been different portions, subsets or fractions of energy. You access Reiki through a different technique than you access QiGong. It feels different; they’re different parts of this energy. It is as if you are looking at the heavens at night and studying the stars with a telescope and use it as a metaphor for one of these “techniques.” The more you fine-tune your view from the telescope, the more you fine-tune that technique, the better you might be able to see that one portion of the sky exposed to the planet at that moment in time. But what is the expense, the cost, the price you pay when you fine-tune that telescope? You lose the rest of the vista, horizon, and picture. At some point it becomes wise to place the telescope down so we can see the entire sky. With Reconnective Healing, we can access the entirety of the energy that exists within our bubble, not just a portion. Even tiny muscles on the forehead or the chin, muscles not easily moved intentionally or independently, will go into involuntary movement.
