ATTENTION to ALL grades: The science fair proposal for the topic and project that each student is doing is DUE this Friday. Please discuss with your student/parents what project you plan to do and what part of the grade level curriculum it touches on.
In general each student has daily homework. This should last about 10 minutes and they should review their worksheet notes or their Cornell notes in their interactive notebooks.
When reviewing the material from the notes, the student can cover up the note-taking (right) col-umn to answer the questions/keywords in the key word or cue (left) column. The student is en-couraged to reflect on the material and review the notes regularly. It is important that they show evidence of studying. Highlighting or underlining, adding additional information from what was given in class will earn each student the maximum amount of points when their notebooks are graded.
6th grade: We will wrap up our discussion on how to conduct a science fair project. Homework is to review the notes that we do in class every day for 10 min or complete the assignment that we start in class. Paperwork for Mountain Lab School is past due I still have a few out that need to be returned. Please make sure that your sixth grader's immunizations are up to date for middle school and that the record is given to Ms. Castellano in the nurses office. This is required for par-ticipation in Mountain Lab School.
7th grade: We will continue our unit on chemistry. Homework is to review the notes that we do in class every day for 10 min or complete the assignment that we start in class.
8th grade: We will continue our unit on genetics and DNA. Homework is to review the notes that we do in class every day for 10 min or complete the assignment that we start in class.

All Classes
Bootcamp has ended and each class is getting into their respective units with gusto. Every class now has access to their Google
classroom and we are doing our best to update it regularly, however, as much of the class work now takes place via the Pearson
website, the Google Classroom may look a bit more vacant than it has in years prior. Also, beginning this week, Mrs. Lacert will
be out for two weeks and Mrs. Southern will be at the helm.
Other important information:
* Article of the Week: The first Article of the Week has been assigned and will be due Wednesday, September 7th.
* Election Project: The election project started on Tuesday. We began with a crash course on the Articles of Confederation and
The Constitution. This Tuesday, we will work on the three branches of government.
Please note: we will be using last years’ newly implemented curriculum and with that, the students will be using digital books at
home instead of traditional textbooks. With that said, they must have internet access on a nightly basis as we will be relying on
our digital texts as well as an online classroom forum called Google Classroom. Please make a plan so that students can finish
homework on time.
6th Grade Social Studies: Core Concepts: We are beginning this year with a number of lessons on Core Concepts. These are the
fundamentals of studying social sciences. Topics will include history and culture, geography, economics, and civics. The lessons
this week will focus on history and culture. This will be concepts like chronology and archeology.
7th Grade Social Studies: Core Concepts and beginning Modern Asia: We are beginning this year with a number of lessons on
Core Concepts. These are the fundamentals of studying social sciences. Topics will include history and geography, economics,
and civics. The lessons this week will focus on historical sources and cultural differences and diffusion. We will then quickly
move into Modern Asia and Africa.
8th Grade Social Studies: The Early Americas and European Exploration (Ancient Days-1550): Each of our units will be cen-
tered on an essential question. The question for this first unit is: How much does geography affect people’s lives? We will be
examining the first Americans on both American continents. This unit will finish next week and culminate in a test late this
week or early next week.
Continuation Info: TBD
All Classes:
* It is important for all students to have their interactive binders and pencil pouches as well as a couple of other items I have
given them in class daily.
* All students need to have their own atlases in class..
Please make sure you have access to Infinite Campus for grade information. Please have your student show you their Pear-
son page and Google Classroom if you would like to know what is going on.
