LITURGY OF THE WORD

God calls the prophet as a watchman for the house of Israel. Unless those called by God try to turn the wicked away from evil, they will not be saved. When holy people speak up in God’s behalf, they are saved.

First Scripture - Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 33:7-9

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,

Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;

you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

Señor, Hijo único, Jesucristo,

Señor Dios, Cordero de Dios, Hijo del Padre,

tú que quitas el pecado del mundo, ten piedad de nosotros;

tú que quitas el pecado del mundo, atiende nuestra súplica;

tú que estás sentado a la derecha del Padre, ten piedad de nosotros.

Responsorial - Psalm 95: If Today You Hear God’s Voice Owen Alstott

Music Owen Alstott © 1990 Published by OCP.

Come, let us sing joyfully to the Lord; let us acclaim the rock of our salvation.Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us joyfully sing psalms to him.

Come, let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before the Lord who made us.For he is our God, and we are the people he shepherds, the flock he guides.

Oh, that today you would hear his voice:“Harden not your hearts as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the desert,Where your fathers tempted me; they tested me though they had seen my works.”

Jesus says, “If two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

Gospel - Matthew 18:15-20

All commandments are summed in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no evil to the neighbor, hence, love is the fulfilment of the law.”

Second Scripture - Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans 13:8-10

Gospel Acclamation - Halle, Halle, Halle Traditional Caribbean

Verses: Marty Haugen ©1990 Iona Community, GIA Publications.

Verse: I am the light of the world says the Lord. Walk in the light of life. All who follow my words shall have life indeed: Hallelujah, hallelujah!

Prayer of the Faithful - Lord, Hear Our Prayer

Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Communion - Psalm 42/43: As the Deer Longs Bob Hurd

Text & music © 1988, Bob Hurd. Published by OCP.

Athirst my soul for you, the God who is my life! When shall I see, when shall I see, see the face of God?

Echoes meet as deep is calling unto deep, over my head, All your mighty waters, sweeping over me.

Continually the foe delights in taunting me: “Where is God, where is your God?” Where, O where are you?

Defend me God, send forth your light and your truth, They will lead me to your holy mountain, to your dwelling place.

Then I shall go unto the altar of my God. Praising you, O my joy and gladness, I shall praise your name.
