*CALL TO WORSHIP (responsively)

We are here to worship our guide and help.

As Esther prayed faithfully and worked courageously

for the deliverance of God’s people, Strengthen and guide us to use our power to free the oppressed,

so that all people may know the justice and unity of your holy realm.

Let us worship God!

*HYMN #24 “God Who Stretched The Spangled Heavens” Attr.William Moore,1825

*CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER (responsively)

Lord, make us instruments of Thy peace;

where there is hatred, let us sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that we may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console;

to be understood, as to understand;

to be loved, as to love;

for it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

PRAYER OF THE PEOPLE

How wonderful, O Lord, are the works of your hands!

The heavens declare Your glory, the arch of the sky displays Your handiwork

In Your love You have given us the power to behold the beauty of Your world

robed in all its splendor.

The sun and the stars, the valleys and the hills,

the rivers and the lakes all disclose Your presence.

The roaring breakers of the sea tell of Your awesome might,

the beast of the field and the birds of the air bespeak Your wondrous will.

In Your goodness You have made us able to hear the music of the world.

The voices of the loved ones reveal to us that You are in our midst.

A divine voice sings through all creation.

Grant, O God, thy protection,

and in protection, strength,

Page 4: September 27, 2015 10:00 a.m. Worship 18th Sunday after

and in strength, understanding,

and in understanding, knowledge,

and in knowledge, the knowledge of justice,

and in the knowledge of justice, the love of it,

and in that love, the love of all existences,

and in the love of all existences, the love of God,

God and all goodness.

Through a mighty strength:

God's power to guide us,

God's might to uphold us,

God's eyes to watch over us;

God's ear to hear us,

God's word to give us speech,

God's hand to guard us,

God's way to lie before us,

God's shield to shelter us,

God's host to secure us, as we pray the prayer our Lord

taught us to pray saying: (The Lord’s prayer) CHORAL RESPONSE
