Mr. GeorgsonH ym nology 6-8 Hymn 358 vs. 1, 2, 7. Students are reminded to fill out the recitation performance on the slips past out.

Language Ar ts 5/6: The students have many ways to practice writing with a purpose. The purpose we are currently studying: Express and Reflect. They are writing their first report titled, "M y Favorite M istake." We continue to use our class blog to add stories to "M y Ordinary Life." Soon we will start a new post titled, "M y Bucket List."

Language Ar ts 7/8: We are still discovering the many unique and truly interesting uses for informative and explanatory writing. N ovember is N ational N ovel Writing M onth through the Young Writer's Program so once a week we will be doing a narrative writing lesson from the N aN oWriM o (abbr.) curriculum. There will be a writing test on Friday to see the students implement informative writing concepts in real time. We are also using Every Day Edit. A day process to identify appropriate grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Intro to World Studies 7/8: The students will be culminating the Voyage to the N ew World Simulation with a project in lieu of a test on Thursday, which will be due the following M onday.

Literature 6-8: Our new book the Woods Runner deals with a young teen during the Revolutionary War and is written by our favorite survival author Gary Paulsen, author of Dogsong, Woodsong, The Island, and all five H atchet novels. H is books are written at a high reading level (Lexile) but he carries an appealing drive to all his books that maintain student interest. We will be spending time examining themes from the book and other literary elements. We will also be applying the novel to US H istory.

Com puter 5-8: To begin the year we will develop a strong command of Google Docs and word processing.

M usic 5-8: We will be maintaining a balance of music theory and vocal training. Our first time singing in church will be early October, "Take M y Life and Let It Be" which is a variation of the hymn.

Spanish 5-8: We are going to be applying a new method to our Spanish course: TPR S, or Total Physical Response Storytelling developed and perfected by several collaborating researchers and linguists. This is the method M r. Pluger of Great Plains is using this year. It is deliberately different than the usual method but maintains teaching only in the target language, that is only Spanish.

Students are busy painting the plow!
