A Note About Placement

i n f o @ a n n p a r s l e y s c h o o l o f d a n c e . c o m

During the first few week of classes, teachers will evaluate the placement of students. At APSD, student placement is determined first by individual skill levels as assessed by instructors, not by age. Ages and levels that are listed on the schedule are an average of students in the class. Each student is carefully evaluated and placed in a program best suited to his or her goals and abilities that will provide safe, technically correct training, as well as a challenging, well-rounded appreciation of dance. It is very important to remember that all students are individuals and therefore, are evaluated on an individual basis. Each student has different strengths and they will not all progress at the same rate. The staff at APSD will place students in the most appropriate level to correctly and safely strengthen technique which guarantees a successful learning experience We are absolutely committed to provide proper training and technique for all of our students. If a student moves on to the next level before they are ready, they are at an increased risk of injury. Most importantly, it is difficult for a student to improve in a class that is too challenging for them. They spend their time trying to remember the pattern of steps or becoming familiar with a step they may not have learned yet, rather than perfect the steps. We are asking that you please respect the placement decision of the teachers. All of the

teachers at APSD are highly qualified, trained and experienced and are placing them

according to what they feel is best for your dancer. If you have any questions, please do

not hesitate to talk to the teacher of your student.

Dance Acro APSD is pleased to announce that we are now an Acrobatic Arts certified studio! Dance Acro is a fusion of classic dance technique with the precision and athleticism of acrobatic skills. Using the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus with a certified instructor, this class will help safely teach acrobatic technique that dancers can incorporate into their dance vocabulary. Dance Acro is designed to help dancers transition acrobatic techniques smoothly over to a dance movement. Instructor Brian Wirgau will be teaching beginning, intermediate and advanced levels on Fridays this fall. Register today!

Domonique Chambers began dancing at 3 years old at Roxana’s Dance Expressions, located in Clarkston, Michigan.
