(Rev 20, I Thes 4). But what about in the meantime – life for us, for our children, for our grandchildren? John Calvin urged, "We have been forewarned that an enemy relentlessly threatens us, an enemy who is the very embodiment of rash boldness, of mili-tary prowess, of crafty wiles, of untir-ing zeal and haste, of every conceivable weapon and of skill in the science of warfare. We must, then, bend our every effort to this goal: that we should not let ourselves be overwhelmed by care-lessness or faintheartedness, but, on the contrary, with courage rekindled stand our ground in combat." The Apostle Paul urged, “… be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” (Eph 6:10-13) NewRiverites – let us not abandon our posts! We are in a spiritual battle. Let us put on the whole armor of God, link arms, and courageously enter the fray --- know the issues and how God’s Word addresses them, be prepared to vote in accordance with Scriptural val-ues, speak the Truth in Love, be forgiv-ing but discerning, be gentle but wise – “…and having done all, to stand firm.” To God be the Glory…

My dear Brothers and Sisters… If there ever were a time when we need to claim the value of associ-ation, it is now. We are in a battle of spiritual warfare, and we will not win if we enter the fray independent of one another. This truth applies to us, both as individuals and as churches. The strategy of the adver-sary is to divide and conquer. The counter-strategy is to unite and over-come. Satan has always been about sep-arating. He rebelled against God, presumably leading others to join him, resulting in his being thrown out of heaven. He’s been at his sepa-rating work ever since: In the gar-den, Eve from God, then Adam from Eve, then Cain and Able…Lot and Abraham, Jacob and Esau, Aaron and Moses…Israel from Yahweh…legalistic Judaism from grace, the disciples from each other and from Jesus…Christians from one another,…and on and on we could go. And, my, oh my, is the evil one ever so busy at his task, today! Consider three areas: (1) COVID isolation to separate us from each other – masks and distancing, church at home, work at home, school at home; (2) race relations, Black Lives Matter, and, of course they do(!), but the Marxist movement versus the truth of the issues; and (3) politics – republicans versus democrats, most importantly look at the platforms, especially, socialism versus our democratic republic. All of these satanic ploys are complex attempts to separate people from God and the Judeo-Christian values we learned from His Word – both the written word and the living Word, Jesus. We KNOW Christ is the ultimate Victor, satan will be defeated, the dead in Christ will be raised, the church will meet Him in the air, and so we will be with the Lord forever.
