Presentation

Sepam 2000 is a family of digital products focused on performance and robustness. The design, based on dependability and reliability studies (FMEA) and the use of advanced self-testing procedures notably reduce the risk of protection plan failure.

It comprises a set of units with capabilities suited to all types of applications:# substations (incomers and feeders) S type# busbars B type# transformers T type# capacitors C type# motors M type# generators G type.

Each type includes all the functions needed by the application for which it is designed:# protection,# metering,# alarms and indications,# control,# monitoring and diagnosis,# communication.

With all the facility protection and control functions included in the same Sepam device, operation is more rational and performance is optimized, for a lower overall cost.

The choice of the functions proposed is ensured by the experience and specialized expertise of Schneider specialists who deal with electrical equipment projects on a daily basis.

Details on the functions provided by each type of Sepam 2000 are presented in the pages which follow, in selection tables organized by application.

Hardware description2 models of Sepam 2000Sepam 2000 comes in 2 models with different dimensions:# standard Sepam 2000 S36, for all types, with the possibility of extending the standard number of logic input/output ESTOR boards to 3,# compact Sepam 2000 S26, with a reduced width to allow all the most usual types of equipment to be installed in narrow cubicles, with the possibility of extending the standard number of logic input/output ESTOR boards to 2 only.

Front panel UMIAn alphanumeric display and indicators provide:# display of all the electrical values measured,# indication of alarm and operating messages,# indication of circuit breaker position and protection device action,# presence of auxiliary power supply and Sepam functional status.

CartridgeSepam 2000 has a removable memory cartridge which contains all the data for the application: parameters and protection settings, control logic and archived data. The cartridge makes Sepam 2000 maintenance operations considerably easier.

ImplementationTSM2001 pocket terminalThe pocket terminal, equipped with a keypad and 4-line display, and pull-down menus, may be used to make all the settings and perform all the operations.

SFT2801, SFT2821, SFT2826 PC software# SFT2801: operation and setting software run on a PC connected to the front panel of Sepam 2000.# SFT2821: setting software used to prepare setting files in non-connected mode and download and upload them in connected mode.# SFT2826: graphical presentation software to display the waveforms captured by Sepam during events (e.g. protection device tripping) and for subsequent analysis of phenomena occuring on the network.

Built-in PLCSepam 2000 has logic inputs and outputs and programming tools (LOGIPAM) which are used for control logic. The logic schemes may be the standard ones supplied with the product for the most frequent applications, or customized schemes for specific applications.

CommunicationAn optional Modbus communication module may be added to Sepam 2000 for connection to a remote monitoring and control system. This high-performing communication link may be used to perform the following remote operations:# metering and annunciation,# control,# protection setting,# time-tagged event logging,# waveform display.

0Transformer differential protection

ApplicationSepam 2000 D22 and D32 tranformer differential protection units are designed for the protection of zones which include transformers, autotransformers or a transformer/motor or transformer/generator units.# Sepam 2000 D22 for zones with two ends.# Sepam 2000 D32 for zones with three ends.

Advantages# Full protection against internal transformer faults:5 biased differential protection,5 protection with high set point for violent faults,5 restricted earth fault differential protection included,5 processing of transformer Buchholz and thermostat alarms.# Simple implementation thanks to the neuron network technology used in product design:5 simplified sizing of current sensors,5 reduced number of protection settings,5 does not require matching transformers.# All the measurements are available to facilitate operation:5 phase currents on each winding and relative phase shift,5 residual currents,5 differential and through currents,5 storage of differential and through currents at the time of the fault.# Test position.

0Customization

Sepam 2000, ready to useIn addition to the protection and metering functions, each type of Sepam 2000 includes control logic and annunciation functions. The standard control logic may be adapted for the most usual schemes by simple parameter setting at the commissioning stage. This enables optimized cabling and more dependable operation.(Diagrams are qualified and specified to take into account the most frequent needs).

Customized Sepam 2000The control and annunciation functions may be adapted for your installation by the resources of Sepam 2000’s built-in PLC. Customization consists of programming a tailor-made control scheme which is downloaded into Sepam’s removable memory cartridge.

Input / output resourcesThe basic Sepam 2000 has 2 logic inputs and 2 relay outputs to control the breaking device, to which may be added 1, 2 or 3 ESTOR boards with 8 logic inputs and 4 relay outputs each, according to application requirements.Maximum configuration:# compact Sepam 2000 S26 with 2 ESTOR boards, i.e. 18 inputs and 10 outputs,# standard Sepam 2000 S36 with 3 ESTOR boards, i.e. 26 inputs and 14 outputs.

Logipam, contact language programming software# Programming resources available:5 512 internal relays,5 24 event counters,5 60 timers,5 64 personalized 11-character messages that can be programmed regarding events,5 128 bistable relays,5 64 internal relays that can be set via the pocket terminal,5 96 internal relays that can be set via the communication link.

# Logipam simulator: Logipam’s simulator function may be used for functional testing of the program during the design phase. Programs tested in this way are more reliable and a very significant amount of final adjustment time is saved.

0Communication

ModbusAll the data required for remote management of your electrical network are made available by the Modbus communication option, Modbus being an open, international de facto standard protocol: # metering and diagnosis values,# remote annunciation and time-tagging of events,# remote control of the installation,# remote setting of protection devices,# reading of disturbance recording files.

The communication function is optional and performed by a 2-wire or 4-wire RS 485 communication coupler board.Transmission rate: 300 to 38400 bauds.A set of accessories is used for simple, dependable connection of Sepam 2000 to the RS 485 communication network.

Transparent ready™ - Ethernet connectionand WebserverSepam 2000 may be connected to a broadband Ethernet network by Ethernet/Modbus communication gateways. The gateways provide:# integration of Sepam 2000 in any automation and supervision system via multi-master Modbus / TCP/IP protocol,# and consultation via an Internet/Intranet browser of Web pages presenting data from the Sepam units.

0Operation and setting

TSM2001 pocket terminalThe TSM2001 pocket terminal connected to Sepam 2000 may be used to: # enter all the Sepam 2000 main parameters and protection settings,# and consult all the data required for local operation of equipment: measurements, etc…It is powered by Sepam and does not require batteries.

SFT2801 PC local operation software toolSFT2801 is the software tool used for Sepam 2000 parameter and protection setting and local operation. The SFT2801 software performs all the same functions as the TSM2001 pocket terminal, plus the following:# saving and printing of all the Sepam 2000 characteristics,# selection, recovery and saving of disturbance records. The application language version may be chosen among the following 5 languages: French, English, Spanish, Italian and Russian.

SFT2821 PC setting software tool SFT2821 is the software tool used to create and download Sepam 2000 protection setting files. The SFT2821 software performs the following functions:# creation, modification, printing, comparison of Sepam 2000 setting files (possible without a physical connection to Sepam 2000),# downloading and uploading of Sepam 2000 setting files. The application language version may be chosen among the following 5 languages: French, English, Spanish, Italian and Russian.

SFT2826 PC disturbance recording presentation software tool SFT2826 is the software used to display, analyze and print fault records made by Sepam 2000. It utilizes COMTRADE format files (IEEE standard: Common format for transient data exchange for power systems). Each record, triggered by parameterizable events, comprises the following data:# sampled values of all analog signals,# logical status,# event date.
